Nope, haven't skied the Thrashers. Can't tell you exactly how they ski, but I can say that I know I like that sidecut (almost the same as the Tabla Rasa, which I did get a run on, before I broke them), and I like the flex, which I chose.

Marshal... got your pm, replied with feedback. Still haven't skied them (where's the Tahoe snow? ), but I'm dying to.

    Timely bump by endless...

My mediums are about as stiff (maybe a little softer) as my Powder Pluses. Supposedly the stiff's are like the Volkl Explosives. Given the size of the Thrasher, I'm very happy with the medium flex.

After a couple Tahoe days on the Thrashers, I have to say, they flat out rule. Someone said earlier that they'd demoed the Thrashers and found them fast and stable. That would be a vast understatement. They crave more speed, and turns just seem to get longer and longer until you stop turning. I skied some Tablas last year, and the Thrasher has all the float (almost identical profile), but its extra weight gives it the edge in stability, especially in heavy, chunky snow and debris. It's not a quick turner, obviously, but at high speeds the lack of big tail sidecut makes it very easy to turn sideways and scrub speed. With the flex options, I imagine you could get a playful swallowtail like a Sanouk, or go the other way with something impossible to turn. At 121mm underfoot, the scariest part is turning on the groomers. It took a little getting used to, and it's still hard to turn them at slow speeds on anything firm. You just need to go faster to get them on edge.

The float is the best part though... it's such a different feeling from other fats that I've been on (TeleDaddies, Jak Team Editions, Scratch BCs, Powder Pluses, Axioms). Hard to describe, except that I can't wait to get them out again on Thursday.

What'd you pay total in USD for those Thrashers? They sound inticing but I don't know if I can afford them on a college student's budget.

For people considering the Thrasher, Capital has made some changes to it.

The shape is now 147-124-134, and they've changed from a conventional tip design to a "powder tip," which is a rise of 9cm's over 25cm's of length, compared to their traditional eise of 5.5cm's over 14cm's. So now its a badass swallotailed superfat with tip rocker.

And a little straighter, too? Nice. Did this ski have camber before or was it flat?

Yup, a bit straighter. I don't know anything about the overall camber of the new vs. old design, just that the new one is fatter, straighter and has tip rocker to compliment the swallowtail. Talk about a progressive ski, eh?
