    Colorado for Xmas?

Hi all. I'm a n00b to CO since I mostly ski Mammoth. Can you please advise if I should try to book something around Xmas in CO for skiing? I don't want to fly all the way out there if the snow is not good enough yet. Not familiar enough with the weather patterns.

Also, any suggestions for affordable (not skeevy) lodging near Winter Park? I hear its the best for early season snow.

Loveland and Wolf Creek are probably the best for early season snow- obviously not near each other, however. By Christmas most places should have a majority of their terrain open... whether you get decent snow or not, that's another story.

xmas in CO at the resorts=butt ass cold, no snow (usually), and a zillion people. At least it's busy season so they can charge and arm and a leg for everything.
The older I get, the better I was.

Wolf Creek just sent me an email today that they are delaying their opening from 11/4/05 (I think), to whenever they get enough snow to open.

With Wolf Creek, that could change in any 24 hour period. Hopefully the skies open up soon.

No shit... I have a reservation for Thanksgiving weekend down at WC, and I"m hoping that we're skiing in 24" of fresh pow like we did last year.

Don't book any of the resorts close to Denver unless you like large lines.
I didn't stand in any lines at Aspen last year, even the 19" day. Just ski 1a, Ruthies and Bell until the mob at the gondy subsides, then it was walk on all afternoon.
    Or go to Highlands anytime.
