Any recommendations for a good bootfitter in WA. Need to get custom footbeds, etc.

Jim Mates in the Ballard area of Seattle does outstanding work and understands human biomechanics- we had some heated discussions regarding running and I was impressed. Highly recommended. Please send me a PM and I will provide his contact info. Good luck where ever you go!

There is a guy at Sturtevants that is supposed to be pretty good, but don't recall his name. Can anyone else chime in here.
Jim is definitely top notch. Although I think that some of the things he does are a bit extreme. But he can bend, grind, and warp any boot in to submission. He’s the man you need to see when every other boot fitter runs away screaming “Those Things are Hideous, you call those feet!!". The Alpine Hut in Seattle does great work also, they can do just about anything you need.

What about the Alpine Hut in Redmond? (Much closer for me.)

I don't know much about the Redmond hut, but I am at the Seattle hut about 40 hours a weekI don't think the huts are related. And I don’t have any first hand experiences from the Redmond store

Check out World Cup Skier Services in Bellevue. I just had some done on Thursday with Brent. He's a pro technician that spent years working with various alpine teams. Tested them out this weekend and they were schweeet! From what I understand either Jim in Ballard or Brent in Bellevue are the people to go to in Seattle. WCSS in Bellevue does it by appointment only so schedule both the fittings in advance- 425 644-8304.
I would recommend heading to Alpine Hut if i were you... best bang for your buck.
Another good guy to go to in the Seattle area is Kelly Timmons (i think that's his last name). He runs a shop out of his garage. He used to be Lange's bootfitter for the world cup racers. Good shit.

They are a pretty small operation. For major boot work, I would stick to Sturetvants. They have a better selection of shells, and they also have a better selection of aftermarket stuff to make your boot fit better.Originally posted by Dr. Crash
