    Mt Blanc du Tacul TR

At last, after four months of repose, it is time to ski again. Dave, Stevie and I decided to head up Mt Blanc du Tacul to get some turns in.

Dave hikes over the shoulder of the Tacul. In the background you can see the Aravais mountain range and Sallanches huddled at the bottom of the valley.

Stevie and Dave on the summit ridge. Behind is the Aiguilles Rouge and just over the Swiss border is the Tour Salliere (3219m) with a bit of snow still on it.

Looking back at the Aiguille du Midi where we set off from. The little climb from the plateau of the Col Du Midi (3532m) back to the lift is about 250m and is always a killer at the end of a long day.

Although France was bathed in sun Italy was covered in clouds. Dave and I on the summit at 4248m.

The Nordica 105 was not created for lugging up over 1000 meters of mountain at over 4000m of altitude. But it was created for this.

Back at the Col du Midi. The route in red in the background. The line on the left of the triangle, just in the sun, was looking almost in condition. I think that there will be another trip up there soon.

    There are more pics here

    Keepin' it real, eurostyle

Very nice. 'Shrund-hopping on the Tacul must be an exciting way to get tuned up. It's nice to have the european perspective, as it contrasts nicely with the standard North American fodder of big air and deep pow. Keep the TRs coming.

Nice to see you back, Phil. This summer looks to have been a bit kinder on the snows around the Midi.

Whooa! You should be awarded with a price for "best non-professional skiing site" or something of that nature. Truly great pics!

Now that trip to Engelberg with the Fall Line was something else, it dumped tons of snow for us and then we had a week of sun to shoot it up. Yves has some good pics on his site from the trip.

    Wow... your website is incredible!

I went on a week long road trip through Switzerland/France/Italy this summer, and we ended up spending a full day in Chamonix. We went up the Aiguille du Midi just for some sightseeing, and all of your adventures really put a face on what locals in the area do with the terrain at hand!

Some of those lines you've done are just crazy! I decided during the summer that I would have to come back to Chamonix sometime in the near future in the winter, and your website just cemented that into my mind!

    Simply crazy!

(I just reread my post and realised that just about every sentence ends with an exclamation mark... just goes to show how I felt)

Fantastic photos, and they brought back memories of a phenomenal trip to France four years ago. Thanks for the TR!
