Back in the 90s I bought the TNF Work Jacket and Schmear Pant I sent them back after a few months because they were not water proof at all. The warranty department sent me a Mountain Jacket that was worth $100 more than the jacket I bought, mountain light pants and a check for the difference in price between the pants.

It has always been my will against their will,& they have some very unpleasant employees to say the least.

Not to mention that their gear is flimsy & SUCKS DONKEY *SS.

Inspired by mtbakerskier's recent experience with TNF's warranty department, I sent them my old Extreme Gear jacket a couple weeks ago.

    I anxiously await their response.

    I can't stand the suspense.

I just got my Mtn Tent poles fixed for free -- about 18 day turnaround time. I'll be sending my jackets (zippers -- it's always the TNF zippers) this week.

    thanks TNF

Gotta give props to Patagucci. I strolled into their Seattle store a few weeks back with my 12 year old drop seat pants that started leaking last year. The guy at the counter didn't event look twice at how well used the pants were, just said "pick something out". I came back with a sweet set of $285 Chute to Thrill pants. I could have had a free swap for a lower-end pair, but I paid $25 to upgrade to the Chute to Thrill and am totally stoked. Much better for BC hiking than the old drop seats.

Love my TNF Sentinel windblock fleece and have a couple of daypacks, hopefully I won't need to test their warrantee dept.

ALL of my warranty experiences with outdoor gear have been great. The "lifetime warranty" that only a couple outdoor clothing companies had before has caused the others to step it up with their customer service and warranties in order to compete and stay in business.

Patagonia: replaced zipper, no questions asked. Replaced different jacket, no questions.
TNF: replaced zipper, no questions asked. Fixed seams on same jacket (I didn't even ask...they inspected the entire jacket and found that and fixed it).
GoLite: replaced jacket with newer, more expensive version.
Rip Curl: restitch all my wetsuits every year.

They know that all it takes is a positive experience and consumers will continue to buy their gear.

I found a box from TNF on my doorstep.

    What will I find inside?

    (A) A lovely new replacement for my trusty old Exteme Gear jacket.

Or (B), will I find my trusty old jacket has been repaired and returned to it's rightful owner.

    Vote now.

Dakine warranty also rocks. They not only replaced my gloves, but sent me a check for a Roxy jacket because the old gloves got black dye on it and DaKine couldn't get it out (I had to tell the dye story when warrantying the gloves, they're the ones who said to send in the jacket, too).

i had some stitching fail on the chest strap of my north face pack, so i had to tie and safety pin the strap to the clip so i could use it. I went to the store i bought it from but sending it out sounded like it would take too long as i was about to move to CA. But low and behold, there is a TNF store in SoCal, so i took the thing up there and they repaired it in WAY less time than they estimated. So i'd give their warranty dept. the thumbs up too. (also, since they fixed it, it's stayed fixed, and i use that thing A LOT).

Well, Baron, since you asked; I found my old jacket had been nicely repaired and returned. Thinking they might send me a new jacket was a bit unrealistic on my part. No complaints, the took good care of me.

I'm probably going to add it to the free gear thread.

While TNF's warrenty policies may be prop worthy, their Summit Series VaporWick base layers are dogs ass. The long sleeve I purchased before I went to SA is falling apart and is about as breathable as

Was. I had some problems with them last year, and that was just with a repair. A local shop told me they haven't had great luck either recently.

It's pretty sad considering how fucking expensive their shit is. For that kind of money I should get it back the day after I sent it and get a reach around too.
