Daddy may drive a V-8 'Vette
Mama may bathe in champagne yet
God bless the child that's got his own stash
Nine to five and a place to crash
    which is to say...
Sunday comes forget about work, Ring that bell for whatever it's worth.
If you ask me like I know you won't
I'll tell you what to do what I know that you won't.

I never understood why day job got such a bad rap. It was a good song. Heads just didn't like the message.

    my contribution to lyrics:

Goin' where the wind don't blow so strange, maybe off in some high cold mountain chain.

    AND

Never had such a good time, in my life before, I'd like to have it one time more, one long train from start to end, I'd like to take that ride again.

It is a good song. I picked it, because it is not very well known, the lyrics are good, and it is rarely or never talked about.

A dude I'm doing some work with was a sound man late 70's. He's been dumping from the board boots on me faster than I can listen to them.

You imagine me sipping champagne from your boot
For a taste of your elegant pride
I may be going to hell in a bucket, babe,
But at least I'm enjoying the ride.
At least I'm enjoying the ride.
At least I'm enjoying the ride.

Now miss sweet little soft-core pretender,
Somehow baby got hard as it gets.
With her black leather chrome spiked suspenders,
Her chair and her whip and her pets.

"Saw a bird with a tear in his eye
Walking to New Orleans my oh my
Hey, now, Bird, wouldn't you rather die
Than walk this world when you're born to fly?

If I was the sun, I'd look for shade
If I was a bed, I would stay unmade
If I was a river I'd run uphill
If you call me you know I will
If you call me you know I will

    Ooo, freedom
    Ooo, liberty
    Ooo, leave me alone
To find my own way home
To find my own way home

Say what I mean and I don't give a damn
I do believe and I am who I am
Hey now Mama come and take my hand
Whole lotta shakin' all over this land

If I was an eagle I'd dress like a duck
Crawl like a lizard and honk like a truck
If I get a notion I'll climb this tree
or chop it down and you can't stop me
Chop it down and you can't stop me

Went to the well but the water was dry
Dipped my bucket in the clear blue sky
Looked in the bottom and what did I see?
The whole damned world looking back at me

If I was a bottle I'd spill for love
Sake of mercy I'd kill for love
If I was a liar I'd lie for love
Sake of my baby I'd die for love
Sake of my baby I'd die for love "

    "Standing on the moon
Where talk is cheap and vision true
    Standing on the moon
But I would rather be with you
    Somewhere in San Francisco
On a back porch in July
    Just looking up to heaven
At this crescent in the sky"
Love SOTM, especially that verse, and Liberty is just a classic later Dead song.

    And that woman
    She gets uglier
    And she gets meaner everyday.
    But I got 'er, boy!
    And that's what makes me
    The winner.

The bus came by and I got on, that's when it all began,

There was cowboy Neal, at the wheel of the bus to never, ever land...

    within her sang
All I know she sang a little while
    and then flew on
Tell me all that you know

    A sentimental one for me:

She came a'walkin' down the stairs
    pullin' back her yellow hair
and they called her by name
    pretty Peggy-O

    Here's my sentimental one:

When they come to take you down when they bring that wagon ’round
When they come to call on you and drag your poor body down

Just one thing I ask of you, just one thing for me
Please forget you know my name, my darling sugaree
