    Shipping Skis

And I don't have any cardboard around. Any ideas?
If I can't dig anything else will UPS even have anything that big in the store?

Go to U-haul, buy some lamp boxes, cut them down, and there you go.

Go behind grocery store, snag big produce boxes and cut them down. Apply duct tape until desire effect is achieved.
I've concluded that DJSapp was never DJSapp, and Not DJSapp is also not DJSapp, so that means he's telling the truth now and he was lying before.

I ship a ton of skis weekly and DJSapp has the right idea if you don't have the right box or a tape dispenser. Cardboard can be cut to fit if and when you need it to be. Apply tape liberally but make sure the item within the walls of the cardboard does not move around. Pack newspaper or more cardboard inside the custom structure you will make.

    have fun

If you have access to a bike box, you can easily make a ski box.

go to your local ski shop, they'll give you a box, and then custom out the space for the bindings...

I think that both UPS and FedEx have triangular tubes that fit end to end over the skis.

fedex skisleeve. my local ship shop has 'em for free. wrap the tips, bindings, and tails up real good w/ bubble wrap. the real upside of it all is that you don't get charged for the size, just weight -- usually about $20/pair. obvious downside may be a little less protection.

i wouldn't know where you'd get them, though, if The Shipping Shop in Houghton isn't convenient to your locale....

I just mailed some out today. Stopped by my closest ski shop and asked for a box, they were happy to get rid of it. It was too short but I had some extra cardboard at home so I made an extention piece. I took bubblewrap and put it around the tips, bindings and tails of the skis. Lightly packed newspaper in empty spaces so skis wouldn't shift around.Took it to UPS and they charged me $45 big ones, the high cost for shipping was a result of the box dimentions (4"x11"x84") and not excessive weight. It's pricy but it works.

USPS Priority will run a little bit more than half that.

I just checked USPS postage rate calculator website and they charge $65.84, 5 day regular service, for the size and weight package I described. Shipping was from WI. to NY.

Whatever you do, get extra insurance with DHL.
    They will fuck things up.

Yes, they are cheaper, but you pay a price.
