    WinMX music downloads

I've used WinMX for a few years but not been on in a few months. I haven't been able to log on lately but thought it had to do with changing ISP and settings related to that. Now it looks like WinMx is gone. Bill Gates work his magic or what? What are my alternatives now? Kaaza was a shit show I thought. Limewire was similar last I was on. Are they even still there or are there better options now? Thanks for any help.

It's not so much the model year, it's the high mileage or meterage to keep the youth of Canada happy

    From a google search:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winmx

"On September 13, 2005, Frontcode Technologies received a cease and desist letter from the RIAA asking them to implement filters to make it impossible for users to download copyrighted material from WinMX, or shut down. Under the threat of litigation, on September 21, 2005 the network and the WinMX homepage were confirmed offline.

It is suggested for WinMX users to either apply a patch which would connect them to a user-driven WinMX network, or move on to a decentralized file sharing network such as Gnutella or the EDonkey network."
Yep, seen this before. Crazy liquor & cheeseburger party got out of control.

I'll have to look into soulseek. I've been using shareaza, which has worked for me thus far -- client for Gnutella 1 and 2 as well as Edonkey.

Thanks for the help. Downloaded the patch and running pretty good again. Only thing is users seem able to upload from me but I have yet to successfully download something. Any tips again would be appreciated.
