I don't hate the original. I just think that having these maps on the first page is useful.

    So, just to be clear,

    1) these reports update themselves?
    2) these are historical snowfall reports?
    3) these are not predictions?

I'm looking for yes, yes, and yes.
    If so, great job!

the weather stays warm and up to 10 degrees above average until early november. no base for anyone.
    call me when it's winter.

and this stupid wound im carrying around with me since sept. 4th stops me from climbing. even biking was a no no for the last 5 weeks. (i did a wrong step while climbing(well actually while on the ground ) and the wound got infected. 9 days stationary in the hospital getting antibiotics iv, two surgerys, one week out without any healing, another week on antibiotics because it seemed to infect again, and 3 weeks of normal healing later my foot seems to get better.) im fat and the weather teases me to go out but i can't. and it doesn't even snow.

well lets see if it starts snowing earlier than last year. the end of january is hard to beat.

    No, No, No!

The page at the top needs to be reloaded once a day.
These are snowfall predictions for 12 hours slots.
    Ditto.

The server the images come from seems to be down right now

sorry edg, but copyright infringement is totally uncool.

i can't believe so many here think this is ok. these guys put a lot of work and effort into that site, and deserve to be paid. it's one site that would do us well to support.

I believe we had this same discussion last year. I am mirroring these images (which are obtainable for free) so as to reduce the bandwidth strain on www.snow-forecast.com.

I'm not passing these off as my own and I don't feel that the onus is mine to label these as propety of snow-forecast (where I obtain them from, for example, claims the copyright for the page as their own).

No no no! Brutal. I'm going back to the REAL Snow for the Euros thread.

And Ripz is against it too, so I can't support it else I get no ride skiing.

Ripz, you serious? Copywrite laws? I thought that applied only when people made money off of something else.
    Go ahead, have at it.

Is that at their request to help reduce bandwidth? Sorry, but I thought they would like to increase the number of hits to demonstrate to advertisers the amount of traffic they draw.

Anyway, I go to the source for the pics. It takes too long to load the daily updated pictures. They load fine dirrectly from snow-forecast. I just want to go to "view first unread" w/o waiting for pics to load.

Agree with Ripz, I have enjoyed the service they provide for the last 2 seasons for free. I think it is time for me to pony-up a 20 note this season. Membership often has its privledges.

only the 3 day or less maps are free. you have to pay to get the 3-6 day maps. if my math is correct, you've got them all posted up. the site even specifically says you are not allowed to use their images. links only.

personally, i just like to see people get paid for their efforts. that's all. it feels like stealing from a brother, a fellow skier. i doubt anyone here would rip and post up TGR films on the net for the very same reason.

haarmp?! is copyright infringement the wrong term? illegal distribution may be a better term. basically, you are bypassing their site and getting their pay content for free.

yeah right. blame it on the music lovers.

i bought more vinyls(yes i buy those.... or can anyone explain to me why Cds cost more than Vinyls? higher productions costs... yeah sure... ) because of mp3s than before, but i didn't buy the crap anymore. Strangely enough the allbum markets didn't suffer as bad as the singles and crap compilations. ...hmm why ? I go to see bands i downloaded songs from although i do not have an album of them and buy shirts and stuff at their show.

studies showed rather incresaing purchases of music in the group with the highest bandwith capabilities (Students). Of course nobody buys singles of plastic pop casted crap anymore if you can get "hip for two weeks" chart crap for free... ooh horrible! lets punish the guys with taste.
i got an even better idea:why not save the music companies with laws that force you to buy more bullshit.concerning the argument stealing from a bro: And they are no bros of mine. I do not say things like " With Popstar we were able to maximize our profits and push a new product into a oversaturated market" YES that IS a QUOTE by the BMG boss.

Another example: here in germany a band had to open up their own label because they were not signed because of "missing live performance". This was a band where 500+ people at a sold out show could sing along to every song already when there was no album and only a 4 track EP. (And songs for free on the net) They started their label and sold the first 20000 Albums in two days ! I do not hear them complain about the bad MP3 youhts.....And major labels who do not care about music can die an instant death as far as im concerned.

sorry i got a bit roused on that topic but uttering something like "the evil mp3 youths are destroying our wonderful major label scene" makes me sick.

All the holier-than-thou types shut up

Not directly off snow-forecast, readily available for free (and so it would seem with permission of the snow-forecast crew...)

    wrong. check again. /adjusts halo

edg, i'm not sure if you are just being conveniently ignorant, but the signup for SkiClub is £49 per year. i'll bet that snow-forecast gets a kickback from that fee for the free use of their site to members.

We have an expression in the States; "It is like herding cats."

If you are serious about what you said, then the best way is to DELETE.

I applaude your initiative and creativity, anyway. I agree that a 05/06 thread is needed. Give it another try. I am not a fan of using last year's 18 page bloated thread. Let's talk about this season w/o the last year's overhead.
