    Euros: WTF? Völkl Dogen Lenght?

Friend and I ordered these from Sport-Conrad of Germany:

    http://www.sport-conrad.de/2A_00_Det...ummer=70001012

The price is pretty right, and I need some shortish ski to use on local small hills. A ski that has some carving abilities but can be also trashed on some jumps and maybe (just maybe) on rails too...

Anyway, old 183 Enemies being the shortest skis I've skied regularly, I was a bit afraid of the 178 lenght. Should be ok I guess...I just gain some balance maybe, and these hills are so ridiculoysly (sp?) small that u won't believe it...so, 178 is plenty of ski for carving here.

But then this comes via e-mail:

    "Dear J,

    thank you for order.

Unfortunalety we must tell you the ski is only in 175cm delivery. Should we
    send in this length?

Looking forward to hearing from you soon we remain with

    best regards

    i.A. XXXX XXXX

    SPORT CONRAD GMBH"

WTF? Lenghts come 158, 168 and 178 in Völkl catalog.

Is this just some typical german precision? So that they have measured the ACTUAL lenght of the ski, compared to the one announced by Völkl. Or is there some amount of skis manufactured in untypical lenghts or something like that?

Ok, 3 cm isn't much but as I was already a bit concerned about the lenght (who isn't actually? ) and I'm not willing to go too short...

i've been eyeing those too as they're super cheap for a volkl. i'm betting you'll end up with the 178's at your door.

    Made in China too...

That's my only complaint. But on the other hand twins are made for abuse, and I wont be buying any custom-made high-end rarities for back-seated slapping to ice, bashing concrete moguls or jibbing to various materials (excluded actual snow), and for other similar "goods" we have here...(mostly man-made rock-hard snow anyway!)

i also noticed that sport conrad has pretty much all the skis listed with different sizes (different from the size the manufacturers (sp?) label the skis with) in their catalog and on their website. but you will get the 178s if you agree on the 175s. i don't know why they change the length, but who gives. it's usually only 2-3cm off.
    hope that helps.

Hmmmm...perfect tele set up? I'll check that out soon. Thanks.

Must resist of buying new skis though. 4 pairs at the moment, with limited ski time and budget. Still pondering new tele's and something >100mm for the alps...

PS. 175cm Dogens seem fine for the planned purpose. Order made. Can't wait to see&use them!
