    ACL recon pointers

hey there since Im sure that all of you have dealt with the acl problems in the past. I am just bouncing back from a injury last season(acl, mcl, pcl) so with the winter just around the corner I have been doing a full rehab since last spring and feel strong. I was given a don joy brace are there any better that any one would suggest? I feel like my knee is about 90% and with a few more weeks I will be at 100 should I use the brace even? I know what the MDs say but what has been your experience?

I had recon last January (hamstring graft). I never even got a brace. I hear a lot of doctors arent prescribing them anymore.

There is a reason we have so many different places to talk about various subjects.

Gimp Central would be the place, go check it out.

First.....gimp central will get a better response for this.

I wore the Donjoy Defiance last season (with a torn ACL), then got Allograft surgery on Apr 1, and i personally am going to wear it this year too.

Have heard/read/researched, that despite your strength and training, your new ligament really isnt fully healed for 1 year. I have buddies who dont ever bother, but I think it mentally is a good reminder of your new knee. From what I hear, all normal skiing and such should be fine, but any normal strange events are more likely to cause a tear/stretch.

between 5-6 for one of the models. call your local rep off of the donjoy.com web page. The defiance has many models....My friend had the same problem and the rep gave him a deal on a cosmetic defect one....good luck

when I blew my ACL 5 years ago, I had a custom DonJoy. Was close to $1k if you include everything.

Alot of college sports teams may be spacered - UWYO football's offensive line all wear custom braces, i'm sure they don't pay full price for them.

    edit: Oh and tech talk....jong..

edit2: And work your ass off in rehab, but do not do risky shit until it's healed...trust me.
