Where would you heli-ski in B.C.?

I've done some investigating into B.C. heli skiing,& I'd like to hear what others think or hear some testimonials . I'm leaning towords places that have higher rates of flying days .

Not that I've been heli, but a friend has, and he said he would much rather cat ski. Way less chance of being closed out. I know I've cat skiied in a number of times in weather that would have had a heli sitting while you stared at the big fat flakes coming down. The second issue with a heli (unless you have deep pockets) is that if you do have good weather and a decent group, you will use up your vert in half a day, and then you either sit, or start abusing your plastic.

The one big advantage is that heli can have longer/more vert runs, although I have gotten up to 3000' in a single run with a cat.

Mica Creek looks like a good place in BC. Cats are f$*@ing slow and they can't get anywhere near the terrain that a heli can.

If you have already dropped the coin to be there, you want to max out the plastic.

Go on a hut trip and save the other money for a trip to SA or Eurozone. [/more answers to a question you didn't ask]

Since your soo strapped on time, I won't suggest CMH or MW. Check out http://www.helivisionsport.com

I'm not strapped for time, but if I want to ski with my buddy whom I haven't skied with in years, this is the way things are.

I'd go with Pantheon before Bella coola,& I'm partial to Mica.

Be tough to get into CMH(Mica and others) or Weigle (Blue river) at this point. They also only do full weeks. I would try Great Canadian Heliskiing west of golden. Super easy to get to which helps with the time squeeze. They do 3 and 6 day trips. Good fly rate but not the awesome terrain you would find in Mica, Bella Coola or Blue River. Still very good and flying Astars (4 seat) which increases your chance of a stronger group as the group is only as strong as it's weakest member.

I'm sure Mike would let it go in lieu of the recognition.

It's not BC, but if your buds short on time and wants to ski no matter what. It's really hard to beat ONS's operation, CPG. 30 minutes from a major international airport(ANC). You will get a ton of skiing, because they have resort, night, cat or heli skiing.
ONS's is a super nice guy and he took good care of me. I would think that CPG should be on the top of any maggots list.
