what the hell am I gonna do with $845

since I cant buy a season pass this year. I could pay bills, but thats just a waste

I'm a few weeks out of my 2nd ACL surgery (right knee this time) Doc says I wont be skiing until sometime around March. So what the hell am I gonna do to stay active this winter. I figured I can swin, but thats boring

I'm thinking that I might have to bite the bullet and just be the camera bitch this year.

you gonna be able to hit up the groomers in a couple months??? always go for the pass. work your ass off in rehab, and use the groomers as your other physical therapy. and by march/april you'll be around 70 percent.

    Yikes! How'd you do it?

Excellent time to invest in a gym membership and learn the joys of spinning. Don't forget about yoga as well, and pilates. Both are pretty satisfying workouts that don't work your knee excessively and I found yoga to be pretty helpful for balance stuff. I could go on for hours about yoga, so I'll stop here, but do it. You can probably climb indoors on TR by about 2-3 months. Swimming is cool, but I agree, boring.

And do 1000 leg lifts and one-legged leg presses and whatever else Tyrone Shoelaces did to be back on snow and making it look good at 4.5 months.

Best of luck on the surgery. Which graft? Keep us posted . . . and get the pass if there's any way you can pay it off between 6 months post-op and closing day - it may be great motivation

Knitting. Lots and lots of knitting.

Alyeska - Damn, yer 2nd? Sorry man, that sucks. I spent nearly my entire winter last year on a bike, but I don't think you have the luxury of riding year round up there eh? Time to get a trainer, some balance boards and bosu balls and set 'em up in front of your dvd player....

I recovered from an ACL in Anchorage a few years ago - spend the money on outfitting your bike with snow tires and a really small gear and spin the coastal trail and dog mushing tracks all winter - its more fun than it looks...you can even get freshies some days
Leg lifts are key, do LOTS of leg lifts with no weight, like literally 1000+ a day, do them all the time, anytime you are sitting.
Also, I say no to the season pass - you don't want to push it, one season is nothing in a lifetime of skiing, if you get a pass you will go too early. Just save $300 for your "reserve" for tickets, and if you go 4x in the spring to Aly count yourself lucky. For you its biking and leg lifts my man. Good luck - shoot me a PM if you want to do a winter ride sometime.

Skip the pass..... I am just coming back after a 8 months of rehab(acl/mcl/pcl) I am still nervous about this winter. I went to the gym every day and bike....ride your bike. The stair master/elptical machine after a 3 or 4 months is so good.....just like boot packin. good luck.

how are balance boards generally for non-recovery general fitness? Are they a good workout or is it more like a fun thing to do once in awhile?

I am saying dont give up on being outdoors yet. What about snowshoeing and possibly gliding on x-country. I just had Allograft on April 1, and personally hiking felt good to me. Frankly at the 2 month mark I was hiking more than biking (which is weird from what I hear).

The uphill felt good really fast, so at 1 month I was going to a 19 story building and just walking up the stairs to the top, then I would take the elevator down and do it again.

What about skinning Aleska and then taking the lift down.....people would think you were crazy.....but it sure beats a wind trainer and dvds. And they prolly dont check passes at the top.

Get some free weights and start doing squats on them. Then try it with one leg...strength and balance...strenght and balance.

I think there was recently a thread here in the gimp forum with lots of creative things to do on them. give it a search.

Man, you're full of great ideas! Listen to this guy!

I think I should have found a really tall building to play that game in.

I'm already on a bike, nothing fun, just getting around. I also started going back to the gym. I feel really stupid doing 10-15 lbs hamstring curls. I'm just damn glad that I have a fooseball table at home. I'm a freakin pro now

I'm not getting a pass this year, just gonna hope for few times up on the hill after march

Get a vew-do balance board. They are sweet, have three different modes, will help with proprioception and rehab, and cost 150.
