Line Pollard v Line Prophet 130

Ok. I'm picking one of these two skis. Demoed both last winter and still can't decide. They're going to be my out west ski.

Just vote and let me know why... No other options (just these two).

Are you talking the Elizabeths? I assume so, since there is no Pollard Pro next year. You'd have to be stupid to buy either of these skis if you live in MA and are going to use them one trip out of the year. If you like Line, look at the Prophet 100, or just rent when you go west.

    yes i live in MA.

currently i am on 4frnt MSPs and they're too narrow.

i spend about 30% of my time out west. enough that renting is not worth it.

plus i spend most of my time out east on a snowboard. so i like the "snowboard"-esque feel...

the extra plus: i have a nice tidy "hook up" so it's not really an ish about the $.

Well, then I think you need to decide what you want to do with the skis, and since each ski only comes in one size, it would help to know your weight/height.

Make sure you inspect the cap sidewalls. Many pairs produced by Line have crooked ones - at least at my loacl store 75% of their stock was crooked.

Yes, really. Just give the ski a careful, close inspection.

The Elizabeths look promising 139/110/137 should be great powder in tight area ski, but at 172 they might be alittle unstable at speed out west. The Prophet 100 can be had in longer lengths and have layer of titanium. They would be better choice I think due cause with the increase stiffness they ski well on groomers to. I have skied on a pair of 172cm Motherships(for runner to prophets) and they were great skis, and even had decent hold on PA hardpack.

i've skied motherships and prophet 100s. looking for something with a bit more meat. i guess we're all leaning towards the Elizabeths. i am just worried about the stability straightlining out west.

I wish i could tell you, but I myself have never skied them. Sound like alot of sidecut on a short ski, only ski that has been stable up to speed like that has been Metrons. They are for sure not what your looking for though.

Why dont you buy them tell us. and if you dont like them sell them to me. I can put those things to good use in eastern trees i bet.

In 80 days of skiing LCC last season, I saw exactly one guy on Prophet 130s, once.

Elizabeth would be nice for tight trees back east, but you wouldn't use it as much out west. It was too short for me... over the handlebars everytime I tried to go fast. It skis shorter than a 172, especially with the twin tip. That being said, it's the perfect size for my girlfriend, who skis the tele version and loves it as her big ski.

I know a couple guys that tele the Prophet 130 and swear by them for any new snow. For anything out here, I'd vote Prophet, either 130 or 100 (fine in deep snow, better all-around), but not Elizabeth.

graham. whas' up? how's the GF? how's life?

    i'm so torn.

yah i am worried about going over the handlebars... did that in Utah on the PFDs a few times....

the 100s just don't scream out to me (Buy me)... they were fun skis, but i already have a pair of do-it-alls (MSPs). i am adding to the quiver.

The Elizabeth won't give you any more than you get from the MSPs (except super turny woods ability back east). If you endo'ed on the PFDs before, you'll do it again, and I don't think they're doing longer lengths this season. So I don't see the point in getting those. You're happy with your MSPs for all-around, and you're not worried about $, so I'd say splurge. Get the 130's. They've definitely give you something that you don't have in the MSPs, which is redonkulous float. Obviously a specialty ski, but if you've got all-around covered, then that's fine, right?

Of course I've never had any problems justifying the purchase of a quiver ski, for myself, or for the GF (hence, her PFD's). Otherwise, everything's good. Busy as always, but getting psyched up for skiing now.

That's because there were only around 100 pairs in the world last year. I saw about a half dozen pairs at Alpine Meadows in the spring.

Having skied both the Elizabeth and the Prophet 130, I would not recommend the Elizabeth as an all out powder ski. It was designed as a BC jib ski, and that's what it feels like. At the recommended mounting point, there is very little tip compared to most other powder skis. Also, the nearly semetrical snowboard-esque shape can make the skis a bit hooky in chopped up stuff. Also, they're very soft and are easily deflected in manky snow. If you have another 90mm+ waisted ski for less than a foot days, go for the Prophet 130, if not go for the Prophet 100.

And FYI, the construction on the new Lines looks very good from what I've seen.

Yeah, I'll in at SIA... probably for a full week, doing ski product writing for Ski Press. Then on to OR... long two weeks.

Also, I'll probably be out in Colorado this winter a bunch with the GF, so let us know your travel plans.
