    Helmets

I've been searching the forums quite a bit lately but information on helmets seems to be limited. I had a helmet when I was younger due to mom's request, but outgrew it and didn't replace it. After overshooting a jump by a mile last year and coming within 10ft of hitting the lift (as in the cable & chairs), and then coming down 20+ ft to flat and nearly knocking myself out with my knee...I decided its about time to invest in one. So, beyond finding one that fits well, what are your preferences? Although a chin bar would've been useful on that day, I'm not extreme-o enough to need one regularly, so I'm not really considering them.

The list I compiled for the poll is just a combination of what seems to be popular along with some of the better helmets offered by a few different manufacturers. I should have mentioned as well that I'm interested in the ability to hook up an Ipod or something similar if that changes your opinion.

    Thanks for any advice.

Edit - Sorry for not stating previously, but for those who suggest "Other" it would much appreciated if you filled me in on what I should be looking for

I use the Burton Red for everyday/park, it is extremely light, protected me from some serious rock-to-head ragdolling.

Thinking of buying TLD D2 Carbon for bigmountain.

i guess it's just personal preference, and whatever fits well and feels good.....another benefit to helmets is the warmth too. I grew up racing so got used to them and since then i have never gone a day without mine......my vote goes to Briko just because of my race days....they are super bomber and comfy plus mine is a Barilla edition.....but most on the board go with more freestyle oriented ones.....

I have a Fuse, and love it. But I have heard people say it has a funny fit with their goggles. Mine fit fine however

Well... early in the morning here and I clicked "none" instead of "other"

I am very satisfied with my Sweet Rooster helmet. (www.sweet.no) Very light carbon fiber helmet. A bit spendy though... But it was the one that fit my head best, and I will definately buy a new, when the one I have is going to be replaced.

I´m a Sweet man myself too, Trooper Fullcut.

Had to finally replace my old Acerbis and got the Sweet for a reasonable price.

The floggings will continue until morale improves.

I like Protec and the Burton Red for everyday use and have a TLD D2 for those days (see my avatar for a pic).
I've got more suits than Liberace, but less than Eastvailhucker.

Giro 9.9--Fits my head perfectly, plenty of huge vents to keep you warm or cool, fits well with goggles and very light. Only downside for me is that it's single impact; I'm currently using my second 9 after trashing my first on some rocks, and number 3 is sitting on the shelf in the closet. The upside is that I have a monster melon and I can find XXL's on clearance for $35.00 shipped

The rule of thumb about helmets:
Get a helmet that fits YOU, is light and well ventilated, and you will have the last ski hat you will ever buy.
I've concluded that DJSapp was never DJSapp, and Not DJSapp is also not DJSapp, so that means he's telling the truth now and he was lying before.

Unless I eat shit on some rocks right I'm sure with some of the foolish things I do it won't be the last, but at least getting one will be a step in the right direction.

Any additional advice is more than welcome, thanks to all that voted and contributed

They do make multi-impact helmets, I just didn't like the price or fit. And since it hasn't been mentioned, a helmet is NOT an excuse to ski beyond your ability.

The last two posts cracked me up...have I led you guys to believe that I'm getting a helmet so that I can attempt things completely beyond my skill level? I suppose that is a good thing, pushing the envelope or somethin like that, +100 gnar points for me when I do eat shit with my new lid trying something I had no business doing

I've witnessed a extremely drunk chick doing just that...with ummm, some serious flow, and while somehow strangely amusing...it was fuckin nasty too

Leedom limit cut XXL as i have a very large head. Nice and warm with controllable ventilation. Great for the very cold days.

Specialized Deviant Full Face Carbon Fibre. Very light, great fit and good ventilation.
Semper in Pulveris .... Only the depth varies

    Exclamation Touques...

I have this super warm Touque. I wear touques, unless there's a comp., or it's sumptin' special, no lid.

Fuse. Fit me better than the other Giros and the adjustable vents really work well.
