    Bending Freeride Brakes

Doable? With all the lift on the freeride I'm thinking that going from 85 waist to 99 waist is going to leave the brakes too short to actually touch the snow. Anyone with experience?

If I can't bend them does anyone want to swap a standard brake for a wide one?

the new FR's with silver brakes are harder to bend well, as they are made with spring steel. the older black ones bend super easily. i have put standard width t3 brakes on 100mm+ waists with out much trouble.

Supposedly Freeride/Diamir brakes are interchangeable with Salomons (the brake arms themselves, not the whole brake piece), but I haven't tried this. So if you have wide Salomons lying around, or skinny/narrow Salomons that you don't mind ripping apart for this project...

insert brake arm into broken ski pole or something.
    bend to straight.
put a screwdriver under the arm.
bend around that to desired width.
    done.

super easy. just give it a try.

edit: if i can get some 747 brakes around 115mm waist skis, then you can get wide brakes on slightly wider skis.

Marsh i was wondering about swaping the brakes from sallys to freerides, I've bent brakes before, I just thought swaping and bending would be easier then trying to get a 85 brake onto a 99 waist ski

yeah, the newer brakes with the silver arms are a chore to bend. a heat torch will help the process along.

    update

the new white and red freerides come standard with brakes that will fit 95 waisted skis, I only needed to go 4 mm to fit on my heli daddies but it was significantly harder to bend the freeride brake from 95 to 99 then a Salomon brake from 90 to 110

    FWIW
