    Thumbs up Serenity

I really, really, really liked it. Great story. Lots about a group called the Reavers, who I guess were a big part of the show (I never saw it), but the flick explains what they came from and what they are. Really really good.

Only thing I didn't get was some of the dialect. The words used sometimes were kind of wierd, sort of like watching something in olde english, and occaisionally the words would trail off into gibberish or some sort of asian language. Also, a lot of the cities had asian or japanese influence - many ads and signs in asian symbols, japanese-type commercials on TV, etc. I never did see the TV show while it was still on so this was very new to me.

Anyway I'm gonna go buy the show DVDs,
it's only 35 bucks on amazon!

so, are you judging based off of what it "looked like", or have you actually seen it? There's a big fucking difference. It was a good movie, and I don't really want your comments unless you've seen it yourself, jackass.

My brother-in-law left the Firefly season DVD's at my house. Very good show as far as sci-fi goes. I may go see it in the theater, but otherwise will defininitely rent it when it comes to the DVD.

If I remember correctly according to the special features on the DVD only the Chinese and the English languages survived so the asian dialect you hear is some form of chinese.

Just finished the book based on the movie last night. Good Story. I am disappointed about one of the deaths and the fact that Inara didn't appear to get naked.

I waited too long to see the movie and when I tried it wasn't in the theater anymore. I guess I have to wait until the DVD.

Just saw this movie. Fanfriggintastic. I never saw the series, but my sister gave it to EP for Xmas and said it was one of her favorites. I can see why.

Bought the DVD last week from Best Buy and the damn thing freezes up right at the critical moment where they explain the beginnings of the reavers. Went to Best Buy to exchange it and they don't have a widescreen version and since it was open they wouldn't refund my money. So I have wait until the widescreen version comes out.

Had I not seen the movie before I would have been extremely pissed.

No exchange for a defective disk? - Go back and try again.
It is not your problem they did not have a wide-screen copy on hand.
They can get one form another store or the warehouse, or at least put one on backorder for you.
It's not like you want to get your money back after ripping off a copy, (that's why the no cash-back rule) you just want a replacement for a defective. Talk to the store manager if no replacement is forthcoming.
Good runs when you get them.

They will get me a copy of the widescreen version for no additional charge. I made sure I had documentation before I left the store indicating I wouldn't be charged when I come in to pick up the new DVD.

not saying you're wrong here, just wondering why anyone would go to the trouble of buying a movie, burning a copy, and then returning it. Netflix is $10 a month and you can burn movies to your heart's content. You'd spend more than $10 a month in gas driving back and forth to bestbuy if you were buying/returning movies all the time. I guess some people are just fucking retarded.

oh yeah, ps. Firefly/Serenity are absolutely great. Watched the whole series on DVD just before going to see the movie. Anyone watching the series should keep an eye out for a couple of Thule roofboxes in the episode where they infiltrate the medical facility. Pretty funny.

You should read the book. It give a lot of back story to the movie and how it relates to the series. For example in the TV show the crew rode a four wheeler when on a planet however in the movie they now have the mule (the hover craft thing). The book explains how they got the money for it by selling the first laser gun Mal stole when the hot redhead was playing him.

Great movie. I watched the series from end to beginning when it was new. Maybe that helps understand what's going on.

I watched an episode or two when it was on TV and thought it sucked. One of my friends bought the series and decided I liked it qutie a bit. It is a Western that has a space backdrop (just like Babylon 5 is a political drama with a space backdrop).
