Anybody know anyone that has tried this thing? My Dad asked me about it in hopes of getting my mom back on skis. Her knees have gotten so bad she is unable to ski more than a few mellow runs.

Dude, do not do this to your mom..........
Saw a guy at Vail with those things one, and he told me that they actually work so, take that for what it's worth.
"Can't vouch for him, though he seems normal via email."
Yeah it's pretty goofy looking. BTW, I sent an e-mail about the prolotherapy and there's evidently a big clinic near where my parents live. Could be promising.Originally Posted by splat
These things are still around? I saw some people using them at Hunter Mountain in 91 or 92 I think.
That cool! Lemme know how it works. I want to do a story on it, just waiting for enough case histories on skiers.Originally Posted by slim

You see, in this world there's two kinds of people, my friend: Those with loaded guns and those who dig. You dig.
They are removed and inserted into your ski poles for the lift ride.Originally Posted by runethechamp

Sweet, now all of the fags can ski with there anal probes on auto insert upon landing mode.
You gotta wear hotpants like in the picture too
my nextdoor neighbor helped invent them.
he had skied hard as hell for the last 50 years, but basically had no cartiledge left. this system let him ski for another 5-6 years (but could only ski 3 hrs/day in the last year) before he had to just throw in the towel and get the double knee replacement. he did that and 6 months later put in a 50 day ski season with less pain than he had had in 20 years. so....if it's someone who just wants to get by for a little longer, it's a great system. for someone who never ever wants to stop charging, it's time to swap the knees out for some titanium ones.
fwiw you remove the butt poles before you board the lift and slide them back in at the top, i've skied w/ the guy tons and he was always ready by the time i had buckled my boots back down. you do have to put grommet sized holes in the butt of your pants so that the lines on the harness have a way out. i'm pretty sure gorsutch (sp?) in vail and beaver creek still have them, but i can get more precise info for you if you want.
I saw some in Vail once. Old guy.
It certainly looks odd, but if you want to ski and it helps than I don't see a problem with it.
