    badass tv help please? NSR

I want to upgrade my POS and get a sick upper 30's low 40's inch set. I have no idea where to find good info, although i have a friend who can get me toshiba and rca at cost. Does anyone have any info , sites, or advice on what to go with? from what i hear the lcd, dlp, and plasmas all have great sets and lousy sets so i dont really care which technology to go with. although i've heard the life on the plasma isnt very long. also, i dont need a super slim flatscreen to hang on the wall, but I also dont want a massive 150lb crt either.

Im leaning towards a slimmer rear projection new sony wega. 42"

    any help would be appreciated

    You can start with AutionReview.com/televisions

    Overwhelmed?

Try Digital Home Canada because I'm Canadian, eh. Up to date articles and lots of useful stuff in the forums.

Nobody buys RCA but Toshiba is ok.

If you're just going to watch SD (standard definition) then my personal favorite is Sony's 36" Hi-Scan TV.

If you want to be cool then it's Sony's 40" Hi-Def LCD

Personally I don't like rear projection.
If you have a problem & think that someone else is going to solve it for you then you have two problems.

we just got a 50 in. samsung dlp set at home. It seemed like the best balance of picture quality for the price. Waaay cheaper than plasma, and a little cheaper than lcd projection sets. If i remember correctly, RCA had some dlp's, and they have some in 42 inch i think. About the weight, our 50 inch weighs less than 80 lbs, so moving it isnt a problem. just one tv watcher's opinion.

cnet.com has good reviews on big tv's.

I too, have been wanting a replacement to my 36" Sony Wega for years now, and here's what I've found.

My big question is always "Burn in" and what kind of "connections" does the tv have? Plasmas seem to be the worst burn-in, or so I've heard.

Just because its "thin" or "you can hang it on the wall" doesn't mean its the best TV by any means.

It also depends on what you're going to do on the thing. Such as, playing old school video games or watching "regular" tv. For old gaming systems (non-progessive scan Xbox games), old CRT tvs will provide the clearest picture by far. Even regular cable will look better on an older TV. Where the difference really matters is when you are:

    1) playing DVDs
    2) playing High Def video games
    3) Watching HD TV channels

Other than that, you'll pay for something that looks cooler than how it actually performs.
