Am I stupid for wanting to do this?

The first ski shop I worked at also did DH/XC bike rentals in the summer. The first month we spent moving bikes and things around tto do a Turkey sale and prep for the new season. We ended up riding bikes around the village a lot.

At that time, my favorite bike to grab out of the fleet was the Norco Torrent. I loved the asthetic of the big DH hardtail beside the Shore and Big Hit and always thought it was a sweet bike to run around on.

Now I'm finding myself wanting to find an old Torrent frame and build the silliest old-school FR hardtail with semi-period correct parts and possibly a e-assist kit to commute to work on.

Is this a dumb idea or a brilliant one? I don't ride much, but I'd love to not have to not drive my Tundra to work.

As a big fan of downhill hardtails, I approve.

    Sounds cool, why not?
I love oldschool frankenbikes set up for cruising. More anachronistic parts the better.

The only dumb part sounds like the motor.

    Ps, app is working!
    No longer stuck.

Huh. I assumed it would be easier to find a 20 year old bike frame than this. Lots of Shores available, but the only Torrent frames have been small.

The Torrent is an excellent bike. Norco dealer friend built one up for town trail shredding and I rode it a few times. Very, very fun but I was pretty new to MTB and liked my full sus more. Do it.
