Japan is awesome but it ain't going nowhere. You got anywhere else on your bucket list that you'd want to check out for a season?

Should I go there for the first time this winter? Long way to go to get skunked, which happens to some people.

The food, onsens, and culture still make for a great trip even if you get unlucky with conditions..

What Blaster said. We got skunked in the sense of freshies, but had huge fun and want to go back regardless.

If there's one country that loves immigrants, it's definitely Japan.

If you are worried about getting skunked, maybe life isn't a game you want to play.

    x2 on that ^

The risk of shit snow quality is always a risk, and one must accept it to reach ski zen.

That being said, Japan is arguably the most possible fun you could have on a powder-free ski vacation. Their culture is so incredible and totally whack at the same time. I love it.
