2026 Spring adventure travel suggestions?

My friends invited me on a ski trip, they are leaning on me to find a place for us to travel from Pitt next season. They want an April 4-12 trip , skill levels are all over the place. So we need some fun intermediate terrain and the steep goods. Most of the group won't want to ski every day for the week, and I think the whole group wants other cool things to do outside the ski area. "Spring Breaky things" which I take doesn't mean getting blackout drunk and clubbing, we are mostly late 30's to 55ish yr olds, so looking for unique cool experiences related to the area.

My short list: for areas are Mammoth, Squaw and Tahoe. I know very little about these places. Maybe Mt Hood should be on that list? I think Canada is on the plate as a possibility also. I want to stay away from MT because I'm from there and have skiied most areas there already. UT is low on the list as we are planning a trip there in early December.

    Please, share some ideas.

I’m talkin about a place where the beer flows like wine, where the women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. I’m talkin about Aaaasssppen.

Whistler has everything from a skiing and non skiing perspective with no driving once you are there. Maybe consider Europe too?

Thanks all, I threw out some names to the planning party and they already chose Mammoth, which will be cool. Also going to be purchasing an Ikon pass.

I like the Whistler idea and am going to check out Blizzard when I get back to visit family, I've driven that part of Idaho quite a bit in my youth, love Craters of the moon. I grew up in west Dakota so I should feel at home in the wind there and will hopefully be a decent kite pilot to bring it along.

Next mission is to figure out other aspects of entertainment for Mammoth.

How do you even get there from Pitt?

You're going to blow a day, each way.

banff? 3 ski areas close, plus kicking horse, pano 90 min away. Free shuttle from town to all ski areas, easy shuttle from YYC to banff. Walkable town with lots of non-skiing things too.

Views are amazing, Snow in april will only start to be spring like.

I have a thread on "how to ski banff"

Tahoe comes to mind with potential lake activities if the weather is good, rock climbing and gambling. If you really care about memorable activities off the slopes you can't beat the Alps..
