Q on Marker Jester toe piece play

I picked up some skis that have old Marker Jester bindings with a lot of play in the toe pieces. These are not the "Pro" version, and not Gripwalk/ MNC compatible - there is a sliding AFD but it is not adjustable to compensate for boot toe height.

The play is rotational - - there's a pin (rod) in the toe piece running in the direction across the width of the ski, and the toe piece can rotate around that pin a little.

I don't see any way to adjust out the play.

Safe to use, or just worn out and junk now?

Pics added - - screwdriver is pointing to the pin or rod around which the toe piece tries to rotate.

Why is the binding designed around this pin? Is this a shared part with the Duke touring binding? (did the Duke rotate on that pin? I don't remember)

I owned some of that same vintage Jester that developed the play you describe. With the boot engaged, does the play disappear? If so, I would still ski them. If not, probably worth buying a new binding. In my case, it took 4 or so years of hard use to get to that point.

Seconding part of the above. If the play goes away with a boot in the binding it is probably okay. But I would probably just buy a new set of Griffon 13 IDs from Corbetts for ~$150 and remount in the old holes for piece of mind.

Thanks - I'll try with a boot in the binding and see what happens.

The ski is a rock ski, I picked up the skis and bindings cheap mostly in hope of reusing the bindings elsewhere. Guess I should've looked more closely at the bindings before buying.
