what budget brakes have pad contact point/ bite adjustment?

I love my XT's and one of the main things is the bite point adjustment on it. Do any of the "cheap" amazon options have any of this? I see LOTS of reach adjustent on them all but nothing for bite / contact point adjustment.

Cable brakes all do, don't they?

... If you're going for a commuter, tourer, beater, etc, IMHO cable brakes are a solid choice.

Do you want more lever throw, or less?

If it's less, then it shouldn't really matter. As far as I know, the contact point adjusters on pretty much all brakes just add throw. Brakes without a contact point adjust just default to the least amount of throw.

I think any hydro brake adjustment is just fiddling with the lever thro the lever not the pad or caliper

"" If you're going for a commuter, tourer, beater, etc, IMHO cable brakes are a solid choice. "" An unpopular opinion but ^^ especilay true if you are actualy touring in a furin country where they donnot deal with hydros when one shits the bed

the BB7 was a favorite of mine it didnt really modulate but it didnt matter

wanting this for customers mountain bikes that want more power/adjustment, but not the XT/XTR price point.

Ya, mechanical is great for town/gravel/fat bikes, but looking for a bit more power AND adjustment

well I was just agreeing with el chup on some on road applications my buddy was stuck somewhere in yurp with a dead Hayes Mag on an old mtn bike if he had the BB7 he would have probably been better off, the BB7 actualy had a lot of power but no modulation as much or more power than the Hayes Mag of the time

I think you might wana look for some Guides they had a knob on the lever and they are now > 5 yrs old they came on my cheap spec Bullit

SRAM is now flogging the DB8 as a replacement for the Guides which came on my cheap spec Vala so the DB8 feels pretty much like a guide

This is for a customer's bike? Putting generic Chinese brakes from Amazon on a customer's bike seems... sketchy.

I was pretty impressed with the DB8s that came stock on my last bike. I ran them for about a year before upgrading and really didn't have any complaints for general trail riding. Pretty good value for the money.
