I saw the original lineup in 1996. Lydon was kinda fat, and their set lacked energy. One of the opening acts didn't show for some reason, and the other was generic ska-punk. I was fully expecting Johnny to reprise his famous "ever get the feeling you've been cheated?" line. He did not, but he should have.

It was late in the tour so Jones, Cook, and Matlock were well rehearsed, and played tight. But it was a pretty short set for a big headliner: Nevermind the Bollocks in its entirety, plus Did You No Wrong and Stepping Stone (which is technically a cover). Afterward, one of my friends quipped "we could have just listened to the record."

But we all agreed it was worth going.

They seem to be playing fairly small venues, so tickets are going to be difficult to get. For example they are playing the Showbox SoDo in Seattle, which holds under 2,000.

“ All rock ’n’ rollers over the age of 50 look stupid and should retire. You can do jazz, classical, blues, opera, country until you’re a hundred and fifty, but rap and rock and roll are really a way for young people to get that anger out.”

The problem is that classical, jazz, blues and country all suck.

Then rock sucks because those are the elements that created rock. Kinda moronic statement.

Fifty years after their peak with no Rotten or Vicious is fucking stupid. It’d be lame if Lydon participated now too. What next a PIL tour with no Lydon?

Well we know he’s dead, probably why they broke up in the first place. They were a novelty act capitalizing on the nascent punk scene. The band should have died then.

I’m surprised that they aren’t doing the state fair circuit.

And they shoulda got Morrissey to fill in for Johnny….

Why begrudge the guys going out and making a little money. They earned it by being part of one of the most influential rock bands in history. I saw Marky Ramone play last summer and it was totally worth it. His band was great.

Bands that were at their popularity peak 40-50 years ago who aren't out touring now are almost in the minority. There's demand to see these acts and lots of their fans now have disposable income, so it would be crazy for them not to tour.
