    Kids walkie talkie vest?

Now that my son is getting older and skiing further, I have found that having walkie talkies is really handy. However, his jacket doesn't have anywhere good to put the walkie talkie besides in the pocket, which isn't super accessible. And he forgets to close it, which leads to it falling out, getting wet, and then distorting the microphone sounds.
Does anyone have good suggestions for how to make walkie talkies very accessible for kids? E.g. sewing something onto a jacket to allow for easier attachment points? A kid friendly harness that isn't too big / bulky? Would love input that is kid friendly. Thanks in advance!

Get him a chest pack for the radio. Its what all the ski area pros wear. I wear mine when snowmaking so i can hear the radio over the guns. Get him the remote mic. He will love it. Lots of companies make them and they can get had cheap to expensive.

I don't think either of my kids would have tolerated a chest harness very well for the walkies, but that's probably the easiest solution without gear mods. They make other harnesses that carry the radio down on the waist either with a cross shoulder strap or belt mount. For my kids access to the walkies was the hardest part, so I would definitely get a mic for it and keep the radio tucked away in an inner pocket if possible and clip the mic to the collar. The mic makes it ten times easier for the kid to hear you and respond without having to pull off gloves/mittens and dig it out of a pocket. A big safety pin makes an acceptable mic holder if the mic clipped to the collar bothers him, otherwise sewing on a piece of webbing as a mic hanger would work too.

We just used a mic clipped to their lapel. Then the radio itself can go in any pocket, and never needs to come out. Cheap, easy to use and you can still zip and unzip their coat for temp management.

    Radio harness

    Yo.
I have a Lone Peak radio harness that I patrolled in for 20 years and will never use again. Yours for the asking if you cover shipping.
Don't try and take it through TSA though as it would probably still have some explosive residue on it.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

Kind of tangential to this but I wish some shells would have some kind of mod to easily latch a walkie talkie onto.

Anyone have any good mods they have made on their shell to give an attachment point for a walkie talkie? I don't feel like wearing a vest/backpack.
