    good girlfriends

I've had my eye on this one girl for a long time, but she had issues, so she couldn't (wouldn't) date anyone, or even just hook up with anyone. Today, i talked to her for a while, and now we're going out. The best part is, I asked her if she wanted to do something this weekend, and she said that it depends on when i'm skiing, because she doesn't want to get in the way of that. She told me that she understands how important skiing is and that it's cool with her if she's second priority.

    She's awesome.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

If you are cool with a very chill sort of "fuck buddy" type relationship, and are OK with her doing her own thing with a couple other dudes, then that could be ideal. (From a sex v. skiing balance standpoint.)

You might run the risk of her getting into some kind of more serious relationship, but if your cool about it, she may end out back in your bed when it's all over anyways.

Yeah, I have to agree, this won't last for long unless she's ultra cool. From a female perspective, being second priority sucks after a while. Maybe she skis? Or is willing to learn with a positive attitude?

And if you're saying she has/had issues about dating you or anyone for that matter, then I would definitely go the fuck buddy route. After all, she has agreed to date you. Hopefully she's down with that...it can be fun, that's for sure... It's probably just what she needs right now.

Translation: If you dont do anything with me this weekend and I am not your first priority, your not getting any, ever.

I could be wrong though, it's tough to "diagnose" a realtionship when you've never met either person. Do what you think is right though. It's cool that she makes the effort to understand that you have a passion for something else, and your pretty lucky because most women who don't ski wouldn't understand at all.

    good luck

edit: you'll be in college this time next year, so it's not gonna last that long anyway, just have fun and maybe you'll end up being good friends or whatever.

    COUGAR ALERT!

did the previous "issues" that kept her from dating you have anything to do with her husband and kids??

and is she still called a "cougar" if her prey is teenagers rather than 20-somethings?

    Sammy,
The issues don't go away, they just hide for awhile then magnify. Enjoy the newness and get in a little jabbin', but beware anything more.

    Thumbs up

Sammy, go skiing. Hit on as many girls as possible. Treat her like she's just another girl, and use her for sex. Don't get one-itis and by all means don't fall in "love"...

Follow these rules and you'll be mobbed by hordes of women including her.

    You now owe me $50

Actually I believe that elevates her to queen of the jungle status.

Sammy, you'll be a lot better off if I don't offer you any advice on women.

I'm just posting to say that divegirl has a great avatar. Although it's probably just another one of phUnk or Meatdrink's multiple personalities.

Um... it's a little too late to tell me that I'm 'too young.' Thanks for the concern though. Don't worry, I'm not emotionally scarred by it or anything.

And just to explain our relationship: we've been really good friends for a while, and we hook up every once in a while, and we've wanted each other forever... neither of us know why we didn't get together sooner. But basically, she is one of the coolest girls i know.

Sublime: no, neither of her parents are boaters. What would be the right way to take that? I'm curious to know.

Anyway, i started this thread mostly because i'm just really happy about this whole relationship thing... i have been into the love em and leave em philosophy for a while, but it gets old now and again, and it's nice to settle down, if only for a couple months. Getting girls takes a lot of hard work when you're as ugly as me.
