The health impacts of smoking go far beyond lung cancer.

That said, I generally agree that this is a bad idea, even if the goal is not banning nicotine itself but rather pushing people toward less harmful delivery mechanisms. With the dizzying array of vapes, gums, pouches, lozenges, etc. available today it is a bit strange that anyone continues to smoke cigs.

Is this not obvious? It’s posturing… FDA announces extreme regs - gets news and pushback - walks it back to what they truly intended…

It's crazy how once upon a time people smoked everywhere, anywhere, anytime they felt like it

as i understand it, nicotine itself isn't carcinogenic. it is the tobacco and all the other shit.
Tobacco companies knew their product was killing people in the 1950's. Big tobacco responded by hiding and then disputing the evidence, purposely manipulating nicotine levels to increase addiction to their product, and knowingly marketing to children to replace the smokers who were dying.

Back in high school the lift lines at the local hill after dark were just a place to share a camel light with the girl you want to ride up with. Meanwhile, classic rock blared over the din of the snow guns on the cheap PA system, you had a six pack of Icehouse bottles in your season locker and everything was right with the world.

    Simpler times.

Planes and Restaurants were the two craziest looking back. Here's your table in the non smoking section. Meanwhile you are 10 feet away from someone actively smoking indoors...in the smoking section.

At my New Jersey high school we had a special “patio“ adjacent to the cafeteria, where we were allowed to smoke cigarettes and frequently smoked pot

First they took the ashtrays from airplanes, then the theater, then the restaurants. A slippery slope to no ashtrays in parks and the warming hut.

When dad sold Chesterfields in the 50's, he had a cool company car and 4 cig packs to give away as samples.

Took my rig in for inspection last week. Pull in the bay but inspector is nowhere to be found. I venture deeper into the dimly lit garage. Movement from a corner. A spark, then the unmistakable orange of a lit dart. Dude is sitting between the fucking acetylene and argon tanks. Said he’d be with me in a second. Told him it was all good and got the fuck out of there.

I was in Boulder when they banned smoking in bars. Probably one of the first place in the country in 1996.
The Scumdowner said fuck that and instantly became the bar of choice.

for the longest time, the Sundowner had a room that was the "smoking room", hanging out in that thing could give you lung cancer in an hour flat!

The pool hall on the Hill allowed you to smoke so long as you were kinda in the back and weren't by the entrance.

Right?!? In our defense we were young and invincible.

And if the heaters weren't enough, the cheap beers and shared bowls would help keep things properly lubed up for a lively night of ripping bumps with your crew.

MJ was NEVER legal anywhere in Canada except the federales AKA the RCMP would just confiscate your bag but never proscuted you for small amounts of MJ becuz there was too much paper work for a nothing crime so unless it was one of half a doz charges cuz you are a criminal no charge no record no arrest

That Trudeau fella the guy who everyone wants to fuck made MJ legal everywhere in Canada

the thing is MJ didn't just suddenly become not illegal it became A PRODUCT like booze or cigarettes so much jumping thru hoops, growers had to certifyed, , MJ retailers had criminal checks, taxes, proper packaging yada fucking yada, but you could grow some and I know people making tincture form what they grew

I still recommend you DO NOT bring your own MJ into Canada over an international border but i am not sure why , if you are doing a hut trip goggle the location of an MJ store most small towns will have an MJ store,

we will soon have 2 MJ stores in a small town, ironicaly its owned by the anesthetist's kid
