Why not on the line (the molded in bump)? Blizzard spends quite a bit of time figuring out where that should be. Unless the friend is tiny (say 135 lbs) on a longish ski (180 or above) then maybe +1cm.

Because this is TGR. Where we debate the engineered line of a ski instead of buying the ski that fit's our needs. Then complain that the twinned jib ski we mounted back does't charge like our Explosiv.

I own both the 1st and 2nd gen Rustler 9's in 180 and the line is perfect for both. 5'8" and 170-ish, maybe a bit less these days.

Reasons to go forward a bit include light weight, less confident/less strong/slower skier, ski relatively long for skier's weight. Reasons to go back a bit? None really, if you want better float in fresh snow get the Rustler 10 or 11.

I guess my experience with moving mount points is more for freestyle type skis, like a Candide, where different mount points are given, or like a Jeffrey where Scott said it works to go back as far as -6, and I did. Both cases were magic for me.

Blizzard assumes you want to carve a clean turn and maximize edgehold and aren't dumb enough to use the Rustler 9 in the park.
