Beta on Tyrolia Almonte touring clamps

Anybody use one yet. When you look at the features and weight it looks like a total winner. Curious how hard it's going to be to break it. Figure if any group of people can figure out how to fuck up a binding quick it's the maggots.

Friend is the Head rep. I’ve fondled them. Carbon/aluminum u spring heel. Probably just like any other u spring tech binding with carbon. They are nicely finished and look to be of good quality. I’m not really down with u spring heels though.

I think they have a stupid high ramp. You’d think the binding manufacturers would’ve figured out by now that big ramp sucks

According to skimo the pin delta is 10.5, which is way too much to my way of thinking...but at least it's better than the Marker cruise at 14.5. Really Marker??? No big trick to make a shim but in this day and age we shouldn't have to.

YMMV, but a ramp of ~ 10 is what most ski tourers are comfortable with, and a middle of the road choice for designers. They look like another generic but very functional binding.

seen a few come through the shop - enough that we probably need to buy a jig - only Bobo’s in Reno has one locally - they look good
I didn't believe in reincarnation when I was your age either.

I think the alpinist ramp is too flat for me.

Based on my own experiences with Vertical ST, Alpinists, various ATKs, Kingpins, etc etc, a pin delta of up to 10 mm is fine but a few mm more feels weird unless you’re using an old school ski with a highly rearward mount.

Looks to be +10.5mm per Skimo, so pretty much the same as the newer ATKs, Crest/RT/Raider yeah? Ive only skied the Zed and Alpinist, but willing to take a punt with the higher delta if people are having good experiences with durability/usability...!

They are a really nice full featured u spring binding. Remarkably refined with shims for adjusting stomp pad height. I toured with our local Head/Tyrolia mountain rep and he had zero issues as you’d expect with this type of binder from one of the major binding manufacturers. It’s like the MTN/Alpinist as far as quality. Does Look make a u spring touring binding?

Edit, Look seems to market rebranded Dynafits.

Fiddled around with a pair of these on the weekend. As far as plastic bindings go, they feel pretty nice. Seems high quality, everything feels tight, actuation is smooth, solid tactile feel. Will probably take a punt on them via Corbetts. I'll chime in here once I've got some impressions..

ive got about 5 days on mine so far and I am very impressed. The majority of my days in the past 5 seasons have been on voyagers/atks and I do not feel like I have downgraded at all.
