Just because a link says "https://www.paypal.com" (or any other site) doesn't mean it goes to Paypal. The actual link can be different than the text URL.
Just because a link says "https://www.paypal.com" at the bottom of the screen when you mouse over it doesn't mean it goes to Paypal. It's easy to change the mouseover text.
Just because the address bar says "https:www.paypal.com" doesn't mean you're at Paypal with many versions of Internet Explorer. There are simple ways to hide that in IE.
Basically, never trust a link to go where it looks like it goes. If you want to log into anyplace that has your money or can get your money, type it into the address bar yourself. You can set a bookmark once you get there and use that, but NEVER, NEVER click on a link in an email.
