Raceface turbine dropper WTF

My dropper worked flawlessly for many years, until it didn't. I pulled it out and noticed the housing was a bit fucked so I changed out the housing and cable. It didn't work. So i watched a how to video. Still didn't work. I tried lenghting and shortening the cable a few times, t nut at the white line, above the white line, below the white line. I've fucked up 2 cables and I'm getting passed off with this thing.

It won't stay up and it won't stay down. It is as if the release mechanism is stuck in the released position. How do I fix it? Or should I just toss it in the bin and buy a new one.

Does it work without a cable/housing? Can you get it to work by hand activating the end?

I believe it is a rebranded Fox. I have one in a drawer somewhere that started sagging.
