I doubt finding lift mechanics will be easier than finding patrollers. Patrol staff is usually much larger. And gets about 10 times the applications.

I remember a particularly epic day at CB in the famed 07/08 winter. Jeebus. So. Much. Snow.

Then a few short years later GoldenBoy dragging me and my buddy around in a more modest year, gripped half the time as he billygoated down lines like nothing. Both memorable, different reasons hahaha.

Is CBMR bringing in outside patrollers currently? I know a bloke from Breck patrol who worked CBMR this week and I'm wondering why

@ mattyTru Patrol exchanges are pretty common. I'd wager that's the case here.

Yeah, I'm going to say regular old run of the mill patrol exchange. Although it does bring up the question of if patrols will be a little less enthusiastic showing other VR patrols how they run things in the wake of the Park City strike and scabs.

^Makes sense. Breck is unionized so I'd assume they are not prepping to scab at CBMR

billy barr has this winter at 49th of the 51 years he's been measuring in Gothic. I sure hope this storm delivers although anything short of a 100" week won't really move the needle given how bad things are.

Is 2011-12 one of the two that was worse? That was the year I learned you could ski the entire painter boy lift line without snow.

Hoping to get some soft turns tomorrow with minimal fuckery. I'll take pretty much anything at this point.

That was a bad year for sure. I rode Hartmans totally dry in Dec, and I actually put my bike on my backpack and sledded up to Scarp's and rode that trail in April, since it was dry. The 49/51 was a CBAC ob, so not sure what the two worst are.

But at least this season isn't the famous "winter of un" in '76-'77. No snow until late Feb, 60" total for the year. Water lines were freezing everywhere without the snow insulation. The ski area didn't have snowmaking so there was basically nothing. Glad I missed that one.

Here's the silly bike mission to Scarps (no idea how to embed right now with TGR on life support):

It's really that bad of a season?
I just looked at the CB snow report and it kinda seems like normal for you guys?
FWIW Crested Butte and Stevens Pass have about the same base depth right now. But skis on the ground trump internet knowledge i guess.
I periodically fantasize about moving back to CO just for snow quality but then remember the dry winters and looong months of off season unemployment.

The 30" of new helped and it's good base building snow. So it's considerably better than when I posted billy barr's numbers. But it's still what I would consider to be an exceptionally bad year. The long dry spells made for a pretty weak snowpack that couldn't hold up to much traffic.

One of these days I'll be in good enough shape to ski what CB has to offer...
