Need SLC - Philly flight, emergency, advise?

Ok maggots, need an answer on this one pronto. I'll never use the ski/snowboard forum for NSR material again.

My mothers brother will likely die within the next 12-24 hours - terminal cancer.

He is in N.J. - Philly seems closest. How do i get tickets pronto? I don't care about times or money, just need to get there NOW. My dad cannot take her, so it will be me and her - 2 tickets.

Your advise on traveling to this area is really appreciated. Much karma forwarded your way.

edit: and yes i'm using the search function. Expedia, travelocity, etc...anyone have any other advise for this sort of thing?

Sorry to hear about your situation.

I believe most of the airlines have special bereavement fares. They'll probably ask you the name of the family member who is ill, the illness, their relation to you, the hospital they are at, and the attending physician, so have that information handly.

I would start with Delta, simply because SLC is a hub for them - call their ticketing # 800-221-1212, request a bereavement fare, and fill them in on situation. If they can't help, try USAir, United, etc...

    Good luck, and best wishes.

Not quite sure what you're asking, but if you don't care about cost just call the airline directly and you can buy a ticket. They may offer you some special fare based on the circumstances--you could even try just going to the airport and buying the tix there. If you're flying to Newark I think Americawest or Southwest or one of those airlines does a lot of SLC-EWR flights.
I would probably call and forget about going online as that's needlessly complicated for this circumstance--as long as you speak to a competent ticket agent you should be fine. Call now.
Good luck. Sorry about the news.

first of all what town are you trying to get too?

flying into Philly if you need to get to Sparta (north) or something is not a good idea....

    LSB,

sorry to hear about the sad situation.

Continental goes to Newark A LOT - a few direct flights or with layovers in houston.

ok ...I'm checking into newark, looks like dover is only 35min from there? But with traffic would philly be a better bet?

FYI...im talking about newark NJ...outside NYC...not newark delaware..which dosent have any major airport as far as i know

edit: philly is like 15 minutes north of the delaware border....newark NJ is like 2 hours or more

ok, everything is settled. Thanks so much for your help guys. I owe you guys one.

I haven't met the man very much, I live pretty far away and my mom's side of the family isn't exactly sociable with eachother. But my mom basically raised this guy so it's hitting her hard. She refuses to let me go with her, but we found a one way Delta flight that will make things much easier on everyone involved. (thanks stump)

Thanks for the awesome quick replys. It's so sweet to have access to people you can trust, who have experience with just about any part of the nation or world you can stick a pin in. I'll buy yall a beer at the CO, WY, UT summits.

edit: Pedro - I grew up on Seven Springs and Wisp :-) Night skiing ruled.

edit 2: fish i tried to PM you but ur box is full.
