Santa Cruz Wharf Falls into the Sea

Not too long ago. The end of the wharf, which was damaged last winter (or was it the winter before) just collapsed into the ocean. I had to get home but back on my way to West Cliff to check things out.

I have not seen the ocean since surfing on Thursday, and was coming back from holiday errands and decided to take West Cliff past Cowells, watching the swell when suddenly there seemed to be a ton of action out there, including jet ski lifeguards. Something seemed like it was up, but just googled and damn, collapse.

There was a huge set rolling through Cowells around that time. I was kind of shocked how many people were out. It did not look like user friendly long boarding with well overhead white wash. But it was the best wave at the Lane. Indicators and Middles seems mostly washed out. Tide has shifted a bit, so gonna roll down and look at Swift and Middle and decide if I have time to paddle out, of decide if I actually even want to.

But this is kind of nuts. Big swell today.
