I presume it has lateral at the heel, but dunno.

Maybe I'm missing something, but if the toe locks in vertically, i.e. no clamping jaw mechanism, I don't see how it could release laterally.

So an adapter turns your toe into a more solid 3pin binding (with dumbshit toe nubbins that are likely to get broken/bent while bootpacking/walking the the parking lot) and the heel is a knock off pivot? How does the toe release? The Ultra looks like it literally locks your boot on the ski. I am not getting it.

Looks like a screw on version of dynafit's DNA Pintec system but with a pivot style heel.

combine Dynafit toe pins with the ass half of the Emery ALX (minus the plastic underfoot plate) and you might have something that would actually work.

There are some obvious flaws but I'll be curious to see if this evolves and makes it to market. It's easy to sit back and flame somebody for not having a fully evolved idea, but it's hard to take a new product from concept to market, that's hard. My hat's off to them for trying and I hope they get there. I, for one, would be thrilled to see a touring weight dildo style heel on a pin binder.

I’ve watch the procedure video on the kickstarter quite a few times and I can’t quite figure it out. Best I can figure is that there may be enough space for some lateral movement in the heel, definitely some vertical space, and when it’s in descent mode the heel pushes the toe pins into upward tension. When the heel releases, it forces the toe pin capture into a spot where they can “fall” out. That said, I’m probably missing something.

Here’s a list of questions I’ve still got:
How does it release laterally?
How’s it do with icing?
How robust are those toe pieces? (They look bendable)
How is the toe welt piece installed?
Any sort of lateral elasticity?
Can I use those brake lever ends to do an emergency tracheotomy?
Can I use the Dynafit DNA Boot (By Pierre Gignoux, with fragrances of rose petals, cinnamon, Kardashian, and diesel fuel) with these bindings?

I agree, those toe nubbins don’t seem a great solution. The promo content is lengthy and has high production values but they seemed to skip over the nubbin tech as much as possible.

I’m curious if matching the heel with a ski trab toe is a viable option.

BamBam is a good dood. When i skied with him i was able to fondle a preproduction of the pinding binding he was working on. Not sure why it didnt come out but it was solid and felt ready for production. The big guy puts things to the test and has some experienced equipment testers. He's always working on something. I wouldnt bet against the guy , thats for sure

After looking at their instagram videos of the vertical release, it looks like the walk mode has the pins captured by both the gold and black sections of the toe. In the ski mode only the black section captures the toe, and it’s held there by forward pressure.
I’m still not quite sure how lateral release works, but if the heel has some rotational ability I think it’ll work.

I do not think it has any lateral release which is why only vertical is mentioned.
