Your statement needs an awful lot of context.

That’s because not a single company has applied for a permit since [emoji637][emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji6[emoji640][emoji637]]][emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji639]][emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji639]].

I think the context is in why nobody has bothered applying. The permitting process is one reason, though certainly not the only one.

Actually there is one that has been permitted and is apparently being built.

If you want to never get anywhere with permitting reform, definitely start with the carcinogen spewing industries.

Maybe we should change the thread title to:

Is Trump trying to destroy the world economy just for fun.

Trump is a puppet. A useful idiot. His only superpower is an ability to appeal to those of low intellect, holding their attention and fleecing them of their assets. Modern western govt was supposed to limit the influence of such charlatans, but autocrats like Putin recognized how he could be useful. I’d love to know Putin’s equivalent in the US - we must target those mutherfuckers with everything we have. And I don’t think Musk is it - another damaged individual that is being used to fuck us.

As near as I can tell, this project currently lacks financing to make construction happen

But hey it’s nowhere near as bad as a handwritten note placed on a windshield - that’s the kind of inexcusable behavior we can’t get over in here.

Ezra Klein had Kimberly Clausing on to discuss the tariffs. Takeaway: Current approach to tarrifss cannot possibly be about the adminstrations stated goals of onshoring manufacturing and replacing some or all of income tax with tariff revenue because that would require a clear signal that the US is adopting sustained tariffs over a long period of time not this on again off again approach. If the goal is to onshore the manufacturing, then in the long term you lose the tariff revenue that will replace the income tax. In fact, the current approach may lead some manufacturers with multinational supply chains to just off shore the entire production line and deal with the tariff once. If US/Can/Mex auto tarriffs stay, expect tariffs on EU manufactured autos once the admin realizes that BMWs suddenly become more appealing. Highly likely that like the Trump 1.0 round of tariffs that much of the tariff revenue will be used up by compensation payments to impacted US manufacturers/farmers. More likely this is all about a) distraction from the rest of the administrations actions (increasing taxes on middle class and lower incomes, while decreasing taxes on rich and corporations, and increasing the debt by 4.5 trillion; executive branch power grab; Ukraine/RUS policy; other corruption) b) bending foreign countries and multinational corporations to his will and corruption and patronage.

I doesn't actually have to achieve that, Trump does have to keep repeating that it will and his supporters will believe him. That said I'm not really sure what the actual point is.

One of the other items discussed was the admin's actions around economic statistics....

That’s not really the best example to highlight ICE fuckery. She’s a huckster selling health tonics in SoCal, flew to Mexico to gain entry? I’m as anti Trump as anyone but are we supposed to be outraged that a pretty white woman was treated “unfairly”?

pretty even handed look at tariffs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WlvBZ1norYMonly thing I would have liked her to mention that those high tariffs only apply after the quota has been reached

Never said it was the best example of ICE fuckery. This is the US v Canada thread so it fits. You can start a ICE fuckery thread which will of course be filled with much much worse stories than this one - it doesn’t have to be a competition or whataboutism.

And by treated unfairly you mean “she didn’t have the right letterhead on her visa application so was thrown in jail in multiple for profit detention centers and only because she is a white women of means do we get this particular window into the fuckery - and then can use her experience to extrapolate out to what it must be like when you’re not in her privileged position.”

Plus this story is relevant because any Canadian trying to do live in the US under a work visa can face the same consequences due to minor paperwork inconsistencies - bringing up her health tonic business, that she entered via Mexico, and the fact that she is a pretty woman is a pretty weak ass and transparent attempt to downplay the actual concerning elements here - you can do better.

Under the plan, Osborne said U.S.-trained and American Board of Medical Specialities-certified physicians could become fully licensed in B.C. without requiring further assessment, examination or training. https://www.msn.com/en-ca/health/oth...es/ar-AA1AIsvT

the last time we had windfall like this was the S.A. doctors in 1985 so Canada needs a refresh as well as more highly trained doctors &nurses !

Kind of the same thing is happening on a local level for us here in BC where the pro's are coming from Alberta AKA Mordor but we need more !

Anyone would be lucky to have you - sincerely.

Not sure the regs are in place for PAs (which is frankly ridiculous that they aren’t)

MDs and NPs could start asap.
