You know when an economist from the Heritage Foundation (conservative leaning) can't figure out Trumps motives, that the crazy man is just jerking everyone around based on a grudge.

"The insults have led to a boom in nationalism in Canada, including “Made in Canada” Facebook groups. In one group, which has more than a million members, Canadians compared notes on pancake mixes that are made in Canada and offered recommendations on flavors of Cove Soda, a potential alternative to Coca-Cola."

Made in Canada Facebook groups. Maybe Canada will have more iron available after the steel tariffs?

Glad I built my big ass metal project (snowcat) before the tariffs. But also wanted to buy a new car this spring and was going to build a 24x30' shop with metal exterior. Shop can wait, but will be "interesting" to see what happens to car prices.

Good. It's not the best idea for Canada to share information with Russian assets

I mean... this should be a surprise to NOBODY that has been paying even a modicum of attention over the past 8 years.

Fuck all these people, and all the people who support them:

Rep. Carlos Gimenez on CNN alludes to military strikes on Canada: Instead of taking kinetic action, he's taking economic action in order to protect American lives.

What do you do when the American people are being so misinformed by their leaders on tariffs. Right to the top. All Americans has a grievance against Canada based on lies. How can any relationship be repaired. Its like 50% of American people are routing for the school yard bully .

Ford CEO is saying it is going to increase new car prices by as much as $12k. Doesn't matter if the cars are built in the US, many parts cross back and forth over borders multiple times before assembly and will get hit each time.

Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

You can't fix stoopid Doug and this country is about 45% retarded and 15% are apathetic, so we be screwed.

I read that ^^ artical altho he served with Americans he is not a trumper if that is what you are sayign I think trumpers are willing to listen to muh president no matter what

I have always found it amazing that Americans stand behind the commander in chief no matter how stupid he is Some time ago a gallup polster told Canada on CBC morning show that over the 26 yrs when they asked Canadians the same questions they polled more and more like northern Europeans

whereas Americans have just got more conservative and then he gave a % of americans 50+ who believe saying anything bad about the commander in chief was treason

and followed up with - whereas in Canada its kind of a test of your intelligence quoteunquote

Don't underestimate the median American voter when comes to rolling a lot of these tariffs back. They're the largest tax increase on Americans in 30 years. People don't like it. Yesterday, RFK Jr. said measles outbreak was a 'Top Priority', says vaccines 'Protect Children.' That's the median voter theory at work.

Related, just FWIW: "Trump stabbed America's best friend in the back. My message to the President is this: Canada will fight back. We will defend our people, and our economy, and we will put Canada first." -- Pierre Poilievre, Leader of Canada's Conservative Party

Latest polls show a split in US voter re tariffs

Your country is IMO irredeemably fucked. If people couldn't agree on something literally as inconsequential as "mask up" during a pandemic it's entirely not a surprise that there would be a split on a subject as esoteric (to voters) as tariffs

But people will notice the increase in prices. It's a misconception that America is split evenly. It's more like “undecided,” “none of the above,” followed by “MAGA,” followed by "Democrat." and lastly "Republican." Only about one-third of the electorate is happy to call themselves either a Democrat or a Republican. Some two-thirds of Americans are disenchanted with electoral politics. So both parties are competing for the median voter and that's why you typically see such close Presidential elections
