Epb. You're not wrong. The Impact Assessment Act is far over-reaching. Brought in by the Liberal government it amended the older Environmental Impact Assessment Act and made the bars for getting infrastructure projects done far higher.
High enough that big infrastructure projects in Canada are economically not worth it and very delayed. I plan on asking any candidate for PM in the next electio if they will take concrete steps to repeal the IAA ot mitigate its effects. We shot ourselves in the foot with that one
BCMH has it so by the time any aluminium comes from the Ukrane Trump will be dead But Aluminium is made from Bauxite, in spite of all the aluminium coming out of Canada there is NO Baxite in Canada
so goggle where does Bauxite come from to find that MOST of it comes form Austrailia/ China/ Brazil/ jamaca/ india some comes form eastern Yurp but China produces more than all those pyrogie eaters put togetehr
the reason Canada makes aluminium is cheap Hydro power, its really easy to ship Bauxite to the port of Kitimaat which is < 3 hrs from here, which is why Alumnium is made at a small FN village in the middle of nowhere
back in the 50s the BC goc reversed the flow of the Nechako to make a BIG fucking resevoir which produces 112 MW of power with a power station at Kemano
SO thats how you make Aluminium class you need cheap power and you need Canada all you fuckgn college boys

I appreciate Canadians for what they are—the best neighbors you could have on the planet. The question for Canadians is how do most feel about all the discussion here about an economy based on natural resource extraction?
Canada is a world leader, top five, in producing gas, oil, uranium, nickel, lithium and gold. Canada produces nearly a third of the world's potash and a quarter of the lumber. And yet, on an investment per worker basis, Canadian companies only invest about half what American companies invest per worker.
Just looking at the data, corporate investment lags in Canada which hurts future productivity growth. Why? It's as though Canadian companies and/or the government doesn't want to invest in industries that play to Canada's strength, the types of things everyone is talking about in this thread?
Lets try to fuckover them friendly folks to the narth with all the goods, the real question is how could America be so fuckign stupid ?
All America has is corn and last i heard we ain't even buying anymore Bourbon So did you folks know Ontario is the largest customer for Bourbon in the world the biggest customer in the world is right there you just load up a semi and it is delivered in a day
and this kinda shit is the same for all kinds of products which is why lets wait and see how it goes at the deadline

Yeah, it is stupid. Agreed. Why don't more Americans appreciate access to Canadian natural resource markets as well as high quality low cost Mexican labor markets? It's a really good deal. Access to those markets is a big reason why America can focus more on higher value goods and services. That's why we're so rich. More investment in Canada’s resource industries would make Canadians richer too
well I am going to go with stupid
besides the Aluminium thing there is the drill baby drill except some oil analyst in calagry tells me yeah while the alberta crude is shit its all the midwest refineries are set up to refine it would cost billions and take years to convert to refining what america takes out of the ground and besides the oil companies export that stuff and the oil companies don't wana drill baby drill

Well, sure, Jong that explains the resentment many feel towards the wealthy in America but working class Americans still benefit from trade with Canada. Even the median (not the mean) income in America is higher in absolute terms as well as on a PPP basis. PPP = Purchasing Power Parity = cost of goods and services, including healthcare + cost of food, housing, education, etc., all included. And Canada is pretty rich too. Much richer than most of Europe, for example
https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/tariff...ch-4-1.7468442 what can anybody make of this ? put off again ?

Huh, Im going to be in Rossland next week. I wonder what its like to buy a round for everyone in the bar
you would get on the CBC and it would be so worth it
Lee Lau - xxx-er is the laziest Asian canuck I know
Good for them. I'll be in Whistler in a couple weeks. I'll do my share to support the Canadian economy, but I think I'll stop short of paying an entire restaurant's bill!
If the aluminum tariff goes through I wonder if many US microbreweries will be tempted to return to bottles?
"Huh, Im going to be in Rossland next week. I wonder what its like to buy a round for everyone in the bar" - so will I! Buy me a drink!
www.skevikskis.com Check em out!
I thought the problem with the alum tariff was the import of primary Alum from Canada , the good stuff that higher grade alloys are made from for stuff like aerospace stuff. I thought that the consumer stuff was for the most part made from recycled alum ie cans? Maybe Canada can sell the US scrap cans to get around the tariff ?The way to look at alum is that it is solid electricity 15 KW Hours goes in to produce 1 kg of alum, the cost of bauxite to go into 1 kg of alum is $0.19
I read the aluminium is made up here up here then shipped down there to a rolling mile where the cans are made and then they ship the cans back up here to put beer in them so its part of that same back n forth over the line thing like the auto industry
I believe everyone will just be paying more for everything
As I understand it Trump does not understnad how tarrifs work
Lee Lau - xxx-er is the laziest Asian canuck I know
As we all understand it Trump has shit for brains.
Sounds like a plan! Wanna meet up one night and/or on the hill? Gonna be my first days of the season - I had ortho surgery in the fall and wasnt cleared for possible impact, so I'm expecting to be moving slow. Hardbooting on an alpine board, ask for change for a nickel if you see me
Yes I know you don't like John Bolton but at last he has brains buddy tells us the numbers really mean nothing to trump its about the deal so bauxite in ukrane water from Canada
its all about the deal
baby
speaking of numbers the new tarrifs drop next tuesday
OR more likely put on hold
