Sandy / Little cottonwood lodging options ?

Can anyone provide some information on cool places to stay that aren’t ridiculously expensive so we can access Alta/ Snowbird? I’d like to take my kid up there at the end of the month for his Christmas break over New Year’s. I’d really appreciate some local feedback. What’s good ?

It’s not cool, but I stayed at the best western in Sandy twice last winter. It was cheap, clean, quiet. About 25 minutes to Alta. Decent food options either a short walk or drive from the hotel. I’d stay there again.

As a frequent out of town visitor, the courtyard on Wasatch is my first choice if not staying up the canyon. Right behind this is the Hyatt place or Residence inn closer to BCC on Wasatch Blvd.

One of these is usually fairly cheap but if not bc of the holiday the Sandy Best Western works , or the Best Western in Midvale but that's further out.

Also used to stay in the Motel 6 off Ft Union Blvd when I was broke and didn't have kids and it was surprisingly meth free for a motel 6 and close to the canyons , but that was years ago so your meth milage may vary.

If it's just you and the kid there's tons of cheap AirBnbs in Sandy.

I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

I get to SLC quite a bit and usually stay at the Home2 in South Jordan. Close to supermarkets, REI, and a few places to eat. It's a nice clean hotel with a quasi-kitchen setup, and quiet at night. 25 minutes to Alta during the midweek. Weekends? Holidays? Ill never want to find out....
