Spiral tether cord i.e. Plum leash material to MYOG long leashes?

For touring I either use leashes or nothing as I'm not a fan of brakes.
I really like the Plum leashes and have a set for myself and a set for my wife that I swap around between skis. I don't clip the leash to my boot but instead wrap around my boot and clip to itself.
I have a bunch of shorter Dynafit/G3/ATK style leashes with the small carabiner but really short spiral cables. I never use any of these because they are too short and would have to clip to my boot (no wrap around style).

Does anyone know where I can find Plum style material and the swages so I could make a bunch of my own Plum style leashes?

You can also get "coiled lanyards" online that are basically the same thing, but I haven't found any that are as long as the b&d ones.

If I understand right, I think you can find this kind of thing by searching for "wire rope coiled lanyard", but I'm not sure how easy it is to get the right length. When I search for that I get some amazon results that might or might not be the right thing. I found some sold as "breakaway trailer cable" leashes that don't look strong enough to hold my Flexible Flyer, let alone a trailer.

If you look on mcmaster.com under "wire rope" they list "loop to loop retractable lanyards" that look like the right thing, although not much cheaper than buying Plum leashes. mcmaster can be a PITA to search so make sure you look in the wire rope category.

I ended up buying some cheap lanyards off Amazon that look about right for length. They have a small steel cable inside the plastic sheath that was listed as 25lb test strength. I will report back when I have in hand and have sorted them to be ski-specific. If it works I'll have 6 sets of leashes for the price of one Plum set!

My first try failed - the cords are way skinnier than the Plums. Might be ok but I suspect they would not be as strong against a runaway ski. I need to improve my google-fu and try to get some of the same/similar diameter as the Plums.
