Please trust that all information that has or hasn’t been released is being directly coordinated according to the wishes of her family. Those that are involved and/or directly affected have been kept in the loop the entire time. The rest of us will need to continue to be patient until the family is ready to share with the public.

I know we’re all concerned for the well-being of a member of our tight knit community, but please give her family and the MMSP space until they’re ready to clue everyone in.

I spent today in Mammoth catching up with old friends and helping out patrol. Lots of alumni patrollers came back and put on the red coat for the day while a bunch of patrollers went up to Reno. Circumstances were obviously shitty but it was a really great to see the old (and new) faces. To earn my keep I made sure I ran a toboggan off of 23. Patrol was hopping busy. Best job I ever had. Rest in power Claire

Comish-ESS: “Im in your picture of the line for G2. Ha! We should ski again!”

Oh no way! I didn’t have any idea. For sure we’ll have to hookup and take some runs! Was your kid training that day? I seem to remember some kids out running gates?

Other than the anomaly of the 2022-2023 ski season that was nine months long, you’re absolutely right about Mammoth’s busiest seasons being in the mid 80’s when they hit skier numbers of 1.6 million skier visits. That was on a lift system made up entirely of fixed grip chairs, many of them doubles and a few triples. Your goal in those days was 10 runs in a day.

Yup, I had 1 kid training. (twin 2 is out after dislocating knee cap slipping in bathroom, Mini Comish is in NH racing, but also broken. Tough season.) I&#39;m red coat w/ grey gloves in your picture. Ha! Be up w/ twin 1 this weekend after being at Sugar Bowl for SG the last 3 days.
Daron Rahlves was the forerunner for the U16 SG races yesterday. It made discussing DNF and blowing out with the kids a lot easier after he blew out 4 gates from the finish in his first run. Pretty cool to have a legend as the forerunner!

Sunday was a fun sneaker storm day. Skied all over and didnt find any lines. Avy 2 was probably the deepest of the day. Looks like theres a few more storms lining up over the next two weeks.

Who's heading up to storm chase? Making the run Thursday, hopefully roads are clear-ish by late evening. Seeing conflicting forecasts about the 2nd event on Sunday and a bit worried it might be a bit of a wash out of a weekend but whatever.

I’m here and waiting on the “storm of the season.” The hype is strong with this one and as we’re now inside the 24 hr window the forecast is looking promising.

Just returned from a two week road trip visiting my kid who’s attending MT State U in Bozeman. Along the way I hit up Snow Basin, Bridger, Big Sky, and on the way home skied Snow Bird/Alta during last week’s storm cycle. Scored some amazing blower Utah pow and experienced the joys of getting up & down LCC, i.e 2.5 hr wait times for the road to open in the morning, and the dreaded “red snake” on the drive down at the end of the day.

Came down to Mammoth Sunday morning and have skied the last two days. Here’s a few pics.

Sunday afternoon laps on the lookers right of Climax were good with little to no G2 lines at Mid.

The Top is skiing ok. Not terrible, but not great either. It’s kind of in that in-between stage of skied out pow but not yet wind buff.

One thing that was immediately noticeable on Sunday was the time change and how much more sun the Top gets. Cornice Bowl at 3:30 and still fully lit up.

Got in a few “Dad” laps in an empty super pipe late in the day Sunday.

Last run of the day on Sunday.
4:00 p.m. and mtn is still getting tons of light. Even with a noon start I got in 17 runs with no lift lines longer than 2-3 minutes.

Today (Monday) started off with dome high clouds that were gone by lunch time. The snow ranged from wintery up high to fun spring slush at Canyon & Eagle in the afternoon. No lift lines anywhere and the mtn was empty.

By mid morning the South facing groomers were firing with smooth corn snow and uncrowded conditions. Perfect to step on the gas and rip some carves on.

    Face of ch 5.

Got in my first Hang Man’s laps of the year. There were some funky goat trails above the choke, with the best turns after the throat.

Afternoon water break on the ML sun deck.

Skied the ridge in between P2 & P3 below the bush down into the sun. There’s a few good turns, but then the snow turned slabby and punchy farther down. The upcoming reset will definitely do it some good.

3:00 p.m. Scotties was totally empty and skied well.

Last Top run of the day was Dave’s to Gold Hill down to Juniper Springs Lodge. A quick 3000 vertical drop. Winter snow on Daves and fun, carvy spring snow on the lower mtn. Classic mid week Mammoth skiing.

Tuesday looks to be a transition weather day with clouds & winds building throughout the day. [emoji1696][emoji1696]

I&#39;m headed up Thursday.&nbsp; Hopefully there is a little clearing which allows the top/back to open at somepoint Fri/Sat, but it does not look likely.&nbsp; Winds and the mammoth cloud will likely persist.</p>

    Mammoth 24/25 - LET'S GET IT ON!!!

Attention Vanlifers! As of 10:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, Access to the scenic loop has been has been gated off from the HWY 203 side. Noticed this while driving up to the mtn.

    Mammoth 24/25 - LET'S GET IT ON!!!

Tuesday was pretty much a continuation of the last couple days. Weather was slightly cooler with a little more SW wind towards the end of the day. No changes in the skiing with winter snow off the Top, softening to spring conditions in the afternoon in the CL & LE areas. Crowds were little to none. Here’s a few pics from Tuesday.

11:30 a.m. Looking West from 11053 ft. No storm in sight yet.

Center Bowl on the face of
    chair 3.

2:30 p.m. View from the top of ch 23. Along with a building SW wind, clouds were starting to push in behind Ritter & Banner.

Wipe Out 2 has a few smooth, chalky turns on the skiers right side next to the rocks.

Scotties continues to have good snow and not much skier traffic.

Got over to chairs 12 , seen here, 13 and 14 in the afternoon. Good skiing.

Not my picture. I saw this on the Mammoth Reddit forum this evening. Supposedly someone is driving their Lambo up onto the snow at
    chair 2. Interesting. Link below.

If you planned to be out storm skiing today, like I did, today was a let down. Yesterday’s forecast of “expecting the snow to start falling by Wednesday morning” didn’t happen.

This was at 5:00 p.m. It had just started snowing lightly with 1” so far.

As of this post at 8:15 p.m. the ski patrol sight shows 3” of new snow at Main Lodge. Forecast still says heavy snow Wednesday night but it looks like predicted snowfall totals have trended down. The optimistic 40” forecast a few days ago is more like 20”, maybe. Hoping for an overnight miracle.

Quick update. Just woke up when the plow went by and stuck my head outside. It’s dumping!

It’s coming straight down without much wind. The ski patrol web sight is now saying 16” of new snow with a temp of 19 deg at Main Lodge and
11 deg at the Top! Blower pow!

Quick check of the radar shows all red & orange tracking thru Fresno, and hopefully heading this way.
    I’m fired up for tomorrow!
Hope I can get back to sleep.

After a bit of a slow start, it’s on!

Had to break trail to get here.
2 ft of blower pow without a track.

Temp is 14 deg with a windchill of 6 deg. Sierra Cement?
    Not today.

Way to get it! Is that the quad with no safety bar? THat&#39;s a pro move getting over there while it&#39;s not running for some fresh tracks.
