    Time Share Title Transfer

So, my in-laws have a timeshare at Angel Fire and at some point we'd like to transfer the ownership to the kids (adults). One of the benefits they got way back when they signed up is that "owners" get 50% off lift tickets and some other benefits. The resort no longer offers those benefits to new owners and we'd like to keep the benefit. I don't think there's much of a paper trail for the original transaction since it took place so long ago. Any real estate experts have experience with anything like this? Is there an easy and inexpensive way to transfer the ownership and hopefully maintain the benefits?

There are some forums dedicated to that crap--I'd start there.

I think it is pretty easy to get screwed in this transaction--what may have been a good deal with grandfathered benefits for your in-laws can rapidly turn into yet another time share nightmare when it transfers to you. It might be possible to keep them, but the time share company will do everything they can to reset you to whatever crap they are offering new buyers today.

My MIL is bought into a time share system and I think it actually works out pretty well, but she's willing to stay on top of it and jump through a lot of hoops to keep her legacy account in place with all of its grandfathered policies. They are always trying to trick her into letting it go...like offer a promotion that gives you XYZ bonus points, but you have to reject it because the fine print says it will "upgrade" your account to the new standards.

And of course all of those promos are delivered with the same high-pressure pitch that is used to sell time shares...need to be on top of everything and willing to push back and be firm with customer service until you get what you want (and are entitled to...they just don't want to give it to you because it seems like everyone who works for these companies is actually a commission-based sales person))

Art Shirk would like to talk to you about the benefits of fractional ownership.
