But they are your choices to make. I don't want to live in a monoculture. If everyone acted and thought like me, society would suck.

Its your game to play. I know what works for me. You gotta find what works for you.
Tolerance as long as it's not someone walking their dog without saying hi. And, tolerance as long as it's not someone who moved to town interested in local politics.

No reasonable person wants to deal with it. It's not even burying your head in the sand, it's people reaching their limit and breaking away to stay sane. Just don't let that turn into long-term apathy if you want a say in the space you occupy.

I just subscribed to the print edition of The Onion and that will be my only news source for the next four years.

Exactly. Some people just need a fucking break and space to breath. This doesn't mean that in 18 months when it's time to fight again people won't, it just means we aren't going to change the current situation by obsessively living and dying by every idiotic policy or statement that is made.

We can't control what happened, but we can control how we are effected by it and how we choose to let it impact our lives. If the Republic is still standing, I will see you all in the summer of 2026 to try to claw some power back.

One way that I think I've avoided the news angst of recent times is that I typically read business-oriented news sites.
You get way less of the emotion and dramatic headlines/ anecdotes

    You're right....
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

there’s business news - good, investigative reporting - and business news that’s just recycled PR. Politics news is almost entirely PR/pointless ragebait

Cruising the world and avoiding America for the next 4 years while visiting 140 countries actually has some appeal, and would be one hell of a way to choose ignore. Too bad I love skiing too much and I'm not so sure about cruises in general (not to mention not retired). https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trum...-nomad-1984726

Well sure. It’s a fucking skiing forum, you dip shit.
The time to do something was before this asshole got elected, and my wife and I did all kinds of shit trying to prevent it, to no avail, so… fuck off.

I don't know, or judge, the rest here but I just gave myself a 30 day RnR away from the sound of battle so I can return to the fray refreshed.

Exactly. Wtf. The last thing my wife did was hand write a shitton of letters to voters in Georgia who did not vote last election.

So please tell what exactly are you going to do NOW? Protest in the streets? Storm the Capitol? Scream the election was stolen and go full kookoo?

There you go, get that anger out. I’ll be your punching bag if that makes you feel better. But I would suggest you direct that anger at something more productive than attacking people that likely share your political views.

Do you think “choosing to ignore” and encouraging others to do so is going to accomplish anything other than (best case scenario) maintain the status quo?
