    Rumor is 50-100+. You take a friend with you though. So it might be 50 members with room for 50 friends on top? No regular lowly season pass holder seems to know exactly how it works including me.

    Double stoke to run into lindenle and DVZ today. We need to get him and Teleracer Ryan to the EuroGrumble.

    Hello stokemaster! You have a wicked good memory! Whoa, lost track of time. I am sidelined with a stress fracture, but hope to get out with y'all sometime in January/when proper winter begins! Let me see if I still have your digits, but I will be over in Jackson for work a few times in the next couple weeks, so I can swing by or pick it up at the next get together!

    Hope you're ready for another great winter!

    1/2 a mil. is not chump change.

    How many of these folks are there that can actually ski?
    I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

    Yeah. All the locals are headed down Thunder on a pow day.

    What a douche that doesn’t understand the mountain.

    Not life altering but it still sucks. Not having completely sold out, in 2025, is great. But these new guys may not give 2 fucks about the JH world, other than the bottom line. They're def bottom line kinda guys.

    I got first tracks of the season down Thunder one year. I don't even remember how it happened, but I'll never forget the turns.

    I really don't think those $10K-ers are going to be a problem. At best they get a 5-6 minute head start and I bet most of them squander all of it trying to get from Casper to Thunder. And then they'll explode on Egg Cartons and all the hard cores will breeze right by.

    I'm so over the powder day morning frenzy anyway. I don't even try anymore. Last season my wife and I would drive over early enough to make sure we got a parking spot, then go get a coffee from Overview and sit in the car until the mountain opened. We still found some good turns.

    In a deep cycle thunder is sweet. But the asshat said Thunder bumps

    If Thunder is bumped I’m taking Thunder woods or Gannett or mushrooms or grand woods or goldminers.

    Not to mention the race is to get to the couch.

    But yeah. The race sucks these days. I hate big dumps and I can not lie. Sleeper days are so much more enjoyable.

    Although I have had a few great early ups maching down groomers knee to waist. That shit is insane.

    There are an uncommonly high percentage of truly expert lines on expert terrain covered in 1-3 feet of insanely good leeward wind deposition powder.

    On any given pow day, from the far drift, ship's prow or the Hobacks top to bottom untracked, all the way over to Tand A, Moran face and Saratoga, there's a finite set of perfect expert runs.
    They are the commodity of this place.
    Selling them to a handful of people instead of everyone equally is in poor form and doesn't represent the Jackson way.
    We're the Equality State, dammit.

    It's already challenging enough to get ahead of all of the ski schoolers nowadays. They've multiplied that leapfrogging program a shitton in the last 5 years.
    Saying it's just another handful and they won't be in our way for long don't cut it anymore. Far too many shite skiers poised to fuck the goods before the best skiers can experience it.
    it's a gotdam tragical shame to see the cooler already full of ski school fuckery from the first public tram windows.

    Sublette. The Quad. The Couch.

    Home, Sweet Home. I bet I have 10,000 laps on that chair. Even fell out of it once.

    Nice, bringing the stoke back...that's a good vid. Better than the usual.

    Lotsa friends in there. Rob H lives about 5 houses down. He's a good egg and truly invested in that mountain. JJ's a solid JHSP bro-gal.

    Great shots of peeps skiing the shots. Alas, the new tower above Nightmare pretty much complicates the in run. First thing I noticed this summer when the towers went in.

    gonna be oddball going up clockwise. and faster, much faster. and running in higher wind, yay!

    The Sublette Salute...

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Lindenle and I saw a sweet Ermine racing across the flats below the AV chair yesterday. Hauling ass beneath the snow and porpoising up for directions. Pretty rad.
    Cool video.
    Watching the crawler excavator was impressive and scary.
    The depth of the snow from the slide above East ridge was impressive. I guess that’s a fair reason to lower the top station.
    The extra heavy chairs are a good idea. Been there. Swinging and waiting for a restart. And saluting.
    .
    Will always be the Couch for me.
    First thing I wondered was how is this going to effect Nightmare. Oh well. I always liked the little S turn line thru too.
    Nice vid about Sublette. I know Palisades Tahoe and Kirkwood have some chairs with great terrain, but Sublette may have the best terrain of any 4 pack chair in the US.
    The crawler excavator was cool- I had no idea those existed.
    This is currently the worst start to the season for JHMR since 1976 in terms of snow depth and the second worst in recorded history. Only 1976 was worse.
    In other news, TCISAR Avalanche Night is tonight at Teton High School- https://www.tcisar.org/events/2024/1...ght-and-raffle
    I'm having some deja vu here. Didn't you point out the slow start we had last time? This is the stokezone man.
    And yeh, Sublette ridge top to bottom in deep pow is unparallelled. A wind loaded ridgeline with a pronounced leeward side and a hella wind tunnel from Pucker face through Flip point...Over 4k vert of genuine expert terrain. The easy parts are where ya rest and relax cuz game on shortly for another shitton of pow turns and blower splashes.
    East ridge to Pepi's run to lower Sublette Ridge. $$$$$$$$$$
    Very cool vid! Lots of great runs down that venue forever etched in my brain. Pepis to lower sublett on my 195 rossi xxx on a over the shoulder day is one of my top 10 days of all time.
    I enjoy looking at the weather and researching historic trends. I spend a lot of time looking at publicly available NRCS, USGS, NOAA and BTAC data.
    Seems like it's fair game to post anything related to negative outcomes from new ownership, early access passes and tone deafness from JHMR marketing, new lift towers and their negative effect on ski lines, but weather and conditions comments that aren't entirely positive are verboten for some reason.
    Want me to start a Teton regional conditions thread so that those who are interested can openly discuss weather, snow conditions and avalanche conditions without messing with the "all stoke" thread?
    I'd prefer not to start a new thread in order to keep all Jackson, Ghee and regional backcountry discussions in one spot but I'd also like to be able to talk openly about current conditions and forecasts (good, bad, in between) without you feeling like it is bringing down your thread.
    LMK- I'll abide.
    Interesting podcast with the owner of Targhee. It covers the past, present and future of Targhee and is about as in-depth as I have ever heard Geordie address these subjects.
    Keep on bitching about the snow, that is my option. Makes me think I am in my own thread. The Tahoe thread has to be the whinyest of them all. Stoke level here is usually high even when conditions are marginal. I come for the current conditions to see if it’s worth the drive out.
    PS. I’ll be in town on the 14th for my usual week of work/not really work. So keep me posted if I should stick to rock skis for the trip.
