I’ve heard about the “entire mtn spackled smooth” storms from DJ and today finally got to experience one.

The way the lifts were operating also added to the memorability of the day. The upper mountain was a ghost town for 3 Sublette laps after first box. I heard Bridger didn’t run out of the gate, but have no way to verify that other than it being way too quite for nothing to be going on. After a Cirque we cut over and sampled the area around Marmot for two laps. Most of all that untracked, before Subby going on wind hold, Thunder getting completely clogged, and the thermal cooking of everything below about 8000’. Good day.

Spats were about as perfect a tool as could be for today.

The storm was warm and a bit underwhelming but I think it provided what we needed- the fresh plastering and hopefully more to come in the next few days
Just ordered the Wade book. Fun that Andrew’s “Waldo” shot is a feature [emoji1]

Totally. both Andrew and I were infatuated with Powder magazine when we were younger.
When I first saw/met all those people that I had seen in the mags and movies I was like the Chris Farley Show.

The snow just started down in the valley.
I like that the low end to high range of snow is 3.1”-11.6”

It’s been a fun few days with the reset.
Friday a bunch of lifts were blown down including Sublette but C pass was open so husband and I enjoyed a personal run down Pepi’s ridge and then he took Alta 2 and I took Alta 3 and I got to capture him off nightmare with no audience [emoji38]

Paging baby bear with a message from the maggots in the Midwest Stoke thread:

Is your hubby still a traveling athlete? Because this past weekend all the Midwest ski areas were plastered with posters announcing next weekend a certain ski company will be here with their athletes. They listed them by first name, and his first name is listed.

If it really is him, tell him a bunch of flatland people are going to be asking him for change.

I would post a pic of the poster, but photo uploader blows.

alas it is not him, Harry. But that crew is fun as hell so I recommend trying to witness some of their antics. That is Andy Perry they’re referencing.
My Andrew is not on the Line/Full Tilt athlete list for the first time this year after a loong time with them but that is fine. Like most aging athletes he is doing more announcing and coaching and such which he also enjoys. (and still skiing hard and jumping off stuff [emoji1] as seen above)
Will we see you at all this season after your knee issues? Sending you knee healing vibes!

Here’s a picture you guys would get a kick out of. My buddy in the blue coat is staring at the only woman in the Thunder line. She’s the one in the white pants. This is probably 1988?

Unpopular opinion, its a stupid competition. They might as well push a huge pile of snow up into the couloir to shape a decent landing in the center where most competitors are landing. The physics as is arent right and competitors are forced into unhealthy and dangerous landings. Its dumb, especially since its turned into a fresstyle comp other than the drop in. They might as well make it look cool instead of fat to splat.

I think thats a pretty luke warm take these days. All for a chance at $5k in prize money. I personally wouldnt risk it career wise but then again I sit at a desk all day pounding a keyboard with killer health insurance.

Lets face it - most competitions are kind of stupid. Just happens this dumb one involves sliding on snow, which we all seem to like. Come to think of it - skiing is kind of stupid.
