    Another "What Boots" Thread

Wide forefoot (102ish), very tall arches and insteps. Inbounds boot only, I have a dedicated touring boot. Gripwalk would be nice, plenty of sketchy booters around here and walking around in boots for work.

Had relatively good success with Cochise and Hawx 130s. Touring boots are a Hawx 130XTD, although that may be migrating to something lighterweight later.

The Hawx fit really well out of the box but the plastic seemed to give really quickly. 130 now feels like a 90 flex after ~100 days. I considered using the XTD for resort and touring but 1. I don't want them to blow up skiing the resort and 2. they're really painful to get on and off, especially when cold. The overlap on the instep pinches the top of the foot and it's borderline unbearable. I also didn't like the stock liners - the plastic on the tongues made any extra instep room negligible.

Instep height is more important than forefoot width considering forefoot punches are much easier to do than changing instep height.

I'll likely end up in an Intuition or Zipfit liner.

Thoughts? Obvious answer is go to a bootfitter. Considering the 130 Mach1 HV GWs... anything else I should be looking at to try on?

I have a stupid tall instep and I've been happy in the Mach1 HVs. Previous boots were gen 1 gen 2 Cochises with work done to boot board and instep, I've been comfy in the Mach1 HVs with no instep work done.

Go down to the west valley Backcountry store and try on every boot in your size. They have a huge inventory and you don’t have to interact with a boot fitter trying to sell you a boot. They pass it out the window you try it on and put back on the table. There’s nothing like trying on a ton of different boots to find the one that actually works.

Tigard? Stiff. If you have big feet and can get a snug fit it's tits. Walking around w a free cuff and locking it down tight is a dream. Probably only for big ass feet

Lange Shadow? Check out the thread where folks are saying high-ish instep and stiffer off the top.

I would not want to ski grilamid inbounds.

Also, forefoot width is kind of useless without a length also. 102 wide is super wide for a 255 mm long foot but pretty narrow for a 300 mm long foot.

Sure high instep and arch here - really like Roxas line up. I daily the R3 130 TI, and also use it for touring. 2 seasons in and I don't really have any reason to change. Just got zipfits this week but haven't skied on them.

I haven't seen your feet in a couple of years tBatt, but I second this recommendation. If you need walk mode for work, try the Cochise HV as recommended earlier in the thread.

**A 102mm boot is only 102mm in 26.5, each size up or down changes the width by 2mm (25.5 is 100mm).
