Just dropped the wife off at GEG and getting packed up, the kids and I are headed to Schweitzer! I'm not used to the lifts starting at 0900.

    Holy shit —
JA was great, full reset. Popped blue. Skiing in November — it sure doesn’t get any better!

Schweitzer delivered. EXCELLENT 1st day in the pow in 6 years. Can't believe that I got reconnected with such a cool group of Mags. Thanks for showing me around, gentlemen.

Good to ski with you. Welcome to Idaho!

Good to ski with the crew today.

Good day 1 at Schweitzer, January level coverage and decent snow quality if you looked hard enough. Alder is almost buried already. Fog is persistent.

Did chair 3 open today? I only took 2 runs off of chair 2 with my son and never looked but I saw someone ducking a rope into rendezvous and off he went following multiple tracks. Otherwise I had a great time lapping the magic carpet with my daughter.

Nah, chair three didn’t pop. Initially they were going to open five, but weren’t able to make that happen either.

Can’t get over how freaking good yesterday was, blue bird pow with full on sendy conditions on opening weekend!

Yeah I took few turns off of sunrise/sob and it was nice. Snow was pretty dry even after 1 pm.

Skied Mt. Spokane on Friday season opener. Those were the best conditions I've seen on opening day in as long as I remember. All lifts spinning, all runs open, great coverage. It was sunny for the upper two-thirds of the mountain with 6-8" of untracked in many places. There were a lot of cars but never had a line. It was like end of February last year but in November. Really hope we can get this high pressure out of here and start getting some more weather in. Could be a fantastic year if it goes going.

Yeah the parking lot was nuts but the magic carpet and chair [emoji6[emoji640][emoji637]] was empty around [emoji637][emoji637] when we got there. I can’t wait till I get some time for myself to make some turns.

Skinned up Mt. Spokane yesterday, the groomer was ok but the ungroomed was brutal refrozen. But, what mountains are these that I could see from the top, I've never been up there with visibility before so these looked new to me. Sorry for shitty iPhone pic.Click image for larger version.

Snowshoe pk is the #3 most prominent peak in Montana with 5418ft of clean topographic prominence. Only the Crazies and Missions have more relief.

Thanks Norseman, its wild that you can stand in WA and see into Montana. Looks like some decent terrain to ski there.

Whippin out mah ruler ('scuse me while I whip this out)... It's just shy of 70 miles line-of-sight from Mt Spokane to the summit of Snowshoe. Looks pretty dang close on a clear day.

The panhandle is only 45 miles wide at the straight part.

Maybe it just seems further because of how long it takes to drive there.
