For the above topic, I think it really depends on the type of PT you are doing. The body needs time to repair/adjust and after one muscle gains power, it takes time for the rest of the body to learn to properly use this strength with other groups to add, isolate and release energy. As an injury is repaired, different body parts change and with the restoration of connection to the injury, these muscles that weren't severely injured will require adjustment and periods of rest as well.
That's not to say there isn't almost something that can be worked on but rest is often better than vigorous exercise for the body, especially if it's one body part/area that is continually carrying the load.

Yes, strength/hypertrophy work will not be done every day. ROM typically will. Be consistent with the exercise frequency prescribed.

Moving on, have you seen the plans for Solitude's new parking lot? It's...umm...interesting. Major viewshed impacts and implications for BC access.

Not to mention it will only add to the congestion….

How many cars do you think are currently parking on UT 190 on a Saturday powder day (honest question)?

Hopefully the new parking lot at least focuses on ease of entry and exit. Solitude seems pretty godawful at parking people in a manner than encourages easy and intuitive transition from the morning to lunch crowd.

Town of Brighton claims 240 roadside parking spaces between Willow Fork and Brighton. Solitude is saying that the new lots will replace roadside parking, but roadside parking is controlled by the Town of Brighton and Solitude has no legal jurisdiction to shut down road parking and Solitude's actual CUP application says nothing about it being conditional on the elimination of road parking. Town of Brighton has given no indication that they will end road parking if this is approved, and it generally seems unlikely since they are now charging $10 for road parking and making up to $2,400/day throughout the season.

Solitude owns the property where the lots will sit, but the access road crosses SLCPU property and will require an easement. But, per state law, the Planning Commission must approve a CUP application if the detrimental effects of the proposal can be “reasonably mitigated,” so expect twisted logic and schenanignans.

Solitude’s current proposal to get people across the road to the resort is parking lot shuttles and an at-grade crosswalk, which sounds like a traffic nightmare.

There are basically 2 crosswalks now and both are a traffic nightmare. Spruces isn't officially marked as a crosswalk, but crosswalk it is and it's no bueño! Mill D has a crosswalk that's marked and lighted and it's a nightmare. Crosswalks should to be routed under the road! Couple this w/ questionable driving and you've got the recipe for 15mph up and stop n go drive down. The zone between the S turn and MillD is not my favorite for stop n go as I've seen life changing(ending) size boulders that shed onto the road

Real talk: As someone who moved from a state that charges .05 per plastic bag, I cant help but wonder why almost noone in Utah carries reusable bags for grocery shopping. They not only reduce single use plastic, they carry more items and work better. Generally not for government forcing this thing upon the populace but maybe its necessary here? Like small single use plastic water bottles, I have a difficult time believing anyone making laws truly cares about the environment if these things are so prevalent in their state for almost no reason other than making a few extra dollars and creating slight convenience.

My kid is still getting after it, he’s still finding patches of snow to ski a couple times a week. Our reporter skiing buddy is always looking for stories. Hugehairdog and my buddy Mike met her up at alta a week ago or so.

Alta is not going to take the Supreme top and bottom terminals apart but will relocate them as complete units using a crane. Mike Maughan said they will get the crane to the top of Supreme helping it along by towing if necessary. Good luck and don't drop them like Snowbird did with one of the new tram cars. A time lapse of the process would be interesting.

From Telefreewasatch: Cmon hr, a timely response please...
I dont see any private messages, likely regarding the skis I found. This site has problems, so I will assume you tried and the site failed, although I have successfully messaged someone else in this general timeframe. My only suggestion is to post it.

Got one guy recommending no surgery, another one (Cooley - US Ski Team and Collinsons doc) saying for the level of free skiing he s doing he needs to get it cut. Third opinion on Tuesday. Surgery Wednesday by Cooley unless minds are changed.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Nothing but good things to say about Cooley. He is still viewed as (the knee guy) for any relatively serious skier by everyone in adjacent care fields (ie sports med, chiro, PT, etc). Not saying he is infallible, but Id be taking (and have taken) his opinion over just about anyone else, fwiw. Even the orthos at TOSH told me to just do whatever Cooley recommends when trying to optimize for long term skiing performance

So the one guy is recommending the full Elway, or the new approach where they brace the knee at 90* and hope it heals back together? NFW would I consider the former given his age and the level he skis at, and he seems too far out from the injury for the latter to be viable.

Cooley knows his stuff, I've paid him twice so far. Good call.

He is also Tanner Hall's doc, well, before Tanner died.

Take this fwiw because I am in no way medically trained but if breath work has not been a huge part of any attempted recovery, I would not fully trust anyone who suggests a surgery. I am basing this entirely on my understanding of how energy flows and what Ive felt in my body. Our entire body literally runs to a large degree on breath and energy flowing thru it. It baffles me how people are getting surgeries without trying this stuff. I understand why its not championed, medical professionals are not trained in it. They are trained on to be hyper focused on a single area of the body, provide easy fixes, prescriptions and how to get someone out quickly. If I read the definition of arthritis, I 100 percent have experienced it and I have certainly improved my condition. Ive literally felt what feels like rib muscles expanding to create space/ease of movement and fascia loosening to create ease and flow. Its a process that can take a while but at 43 I feel lighter every single day and it only came thru conscious focus on breath and body movements. If youve seen my posts about dimensional thinking, it is also a huge part of reteaching the body all the ways it could naturally move.

ACL

You ever blown an ACL?
I have. More than once.
Im tough, but my legs was so unstable post injury that I was useless to my lifestyle.
Less than 6% or so dont need surgery without compromise.
Hear and agree with what you are saying bout holistic healing, but a blown ACL...
Johnny knows a thing or four about them as well. Damn, what coulda been...

Luckily not but I wonder, did you ever consider that being a tough guy could be holding back recovery or led to injuries, which could have been prevented? In my former life which I was taught thru competitive sports, I would "stretch" muscles til they felt pain and tell myself I was doing my body good. It was only when I was introduced to focused breathing that I experienced a much more powerful and meaningful release. The mechanism in our body is a release, it's not a stretch.Like a pendulum, I believe the greatest dynamic movement comes from the opposite of working hard, which in many ways feels like space and rest. And I believe the strongest recovery also comes from that.I believe medical professionals simply do understand how connected all body parts are and what the human mind is capable of channeling when it is focused. A person can do literally the same exact movement in a body part and feel it very differently depending on what muscle is truly focused on, along with what body parts are engaged. And you get a different benefit focusing on all of these muscles individually in literally as many planes of movement as a joint is meant to move, which is not just up/down/right/left, its literally focusing on how it would act at every single degree along with connecting muscles, because connecting body parts will also need to work with every angle.I have neck tightness which has only released when I loosened a knuckle in my toe or loosened my ankle. This shit is way more connected than people think. If you jack up your knee, its way more than the areas around that will compensate. It's almost everywhere. The body will always seek balance.

Fwiw, I believe a shitton of ACL injuries occur because people ignore what their ankles/thighs/pelvic girdle/upper body/spine are doing and how they loose ease of movement when we do something like ski all day long. For the record, my knowledge of big events where stuff is injured in a very short period/crash is very limited. I accept there are times where surgery is mandatory and helpful. That said, I have broken my wrist skiing and really damaged my body thru awful posture and tenseness playing instruments and sitting at a desk. Looking back, I would take 5 broken wrists over the pain I felt from the latter, because it was so much more dehabilitating and took over more of my body. It is thru the latter that I got so dialed into my body that I cannot help but believe what I am feeling in it. I have repaired ankle injuries from middle school only thru this. I invite anyone to argue against logic about the potential strength of breathwork. Or why any rational person wouldn't at least try it. I am always looking to reanalyze my beliefs. But it always seems to revert to the norm or traditional thinking when this is brought up.

The ACL is what holds the lower leg to the upper.
Crucial component in 94% of folks that want an active lifestyle.
