Fun snow but I could not see anything for a good portion of the day. Wet snow seems to be very attracted to my goggles. Wipe goggles, make 2 turns, and I'm blind again. Others appeared to fare better. I'm think I'm going to try some RainX.

Buy a skigee. I had no rime problems today using my skigee but my buddy without one was hating the viz. Even the lower mountain trees below mach schnell were skiing good. Pleasantly surprised for an under producing storm.

Altacoup, thanks for the heads-up! I sent you a private message with details, but I don't think it worked. In addition, I will definitely try a ski-gee.

@altacoup - I assume you refer to the Rossi sender 106 ti? That's a phenominally unremarkable ski. Explains the cheeps.

Most lackluster season of posting on this here site, I ever seen.
Musta been the fact that the site sucked for the majority.
Not bad at the hill today, til everybody showed up...

Ok, it looks like flatlandingsaregoodfortheknees may have found out that flat landings are not, indeed, good for the knees. Literally. Inital diagnosis is an ACL tear. Sucks. Who's the best ACL ski doc in SLC?

Dr. Vernon Cooley in Park City is really good. Or someone he recommends at their facility. He has been my sons surgeon...
This for you or your boy?

Ouchy, sorry to hear. Cooley did a few of mine. No nonsense, good work.

For the kid. Not even anything super sketch. Just flew the landing ramp at the largest park jumps at Brighton a month ago and landed flat. Bad idea. Thanks to you and Buzz for the name. Hopefully things go well from here and he can get back to doing the type of stuff hes been doing next season or the season after. Its been fun to watch him go from really good to ski movie level over the last few years. I hope hes able to get back there.

It’s all about the rehab. Make sure he’s on top of that. It gets really repetitive and is time consuming. I highly recommend Danny at Canyon sports therapy. He’s usually booked pretty far out, but he’s really good and all about working with athletes.

This. PT has to be as non-negotiable as showering and brushing your teeth.

Fully agree. And at some point, even when you are healed, it becomees preventative (though it morphs a bit.)

I cannot begin to describe how badly I did not want to do leg day this morning. Did it though. Was so down on it didnt even get joy from getting it done anyway. Gotta do it though.

PT has to be as non-negotiable as showering and brushing your teeth. I am not convinced this always true. I dislocated my shoulder (and broke off the greater tuberosity) 2 years ago on December 14. I was 63 and 6 weeks after the dislocation I started PT 2-3 times a week. I really wanted a make a full recovery and salvage some of the season. PT was agonizing! I did it religously for 4 months and my progress was extremely slow. I found myself pounding 4 - 6 beers on school nights to alleviate the agony (maybe I should have tried ibuprofen?). After 4 months of torturing myself I said FUCK THIS! After that I did PT excercises approximately once every 2 weeks. I felt my progress rate was about the same after stopping compared to when I was torturing myself. Some things take time to heal. I am sure much more so for an old guy. Reply with quotes FUBAR and the site does not like apostrophes.

Skied main chute yesterday afternoon. Probably the last week before the bullshit factor becomes too high for me. Had to remove skis at the mid station and for a little while on the baldy ridgeline, otherwise, I was able to skin to the top of main

    Get it while ya can!

I don't want to derail this thread too much, so I'll just say this. Besides several things here striking me as sub-optimal, outcomes will fall along a probability distribution and there will always be outliers. Most people most of the time will do best by consistently executing a well planned and programmed PT program.

I found a pair of skis in an intersection this morning. If you lost a pair of skis, message me and describe the skis and we will work on getting them back to you. These skis are unique and I suspect they are a keepsake of sorts.

Dantheman, I agree with you, but there are outliers and unfortunately I am one of them.

4-6 beers per night definitely didn't make you recover faster.

Cmon hr, a timely response please...
I got a dinged wing so glissading not skiing, but,
These dirt on snow events have been increasingly more in number, greater in wind speed, and moving more dirt onto snow in the mountains every year.
Suncups as a result, and the snow not freezing at night in the summer suck to us as skiers and glissaders.
For municipalities and farmers that count on water more a little later in the year, more so.
Anyhow, been a rougher ride this year, stayin afloat when yer not allowed to fall down.
Time spent skiing cannot be deducted from one's life.
